The EE braggers thread!!!

Can you tell what color feathers they will have later based on what coloring they have now? I have one that is a light yellow with a light grey stripe. Several that are a very dark brown with black stipes, and several colored like chipmunks.

lol not really . . . you can presume that your yellow one won't be black other than that if you don't have the parents and even sometimes then it's a surprise around every corner!

Not really. With EE's, because of their mixed heritage, their adult plumage can look totally different than what they looked like as chicks. We have one pullet (Coco), so named because as a chick she was a rich chocolate brown color. As an adult, she is now red. We also have one roo who was completely black as a chick, and is now a spotted dalmatian color. We had a second roo who was yellowish brown as a chick, and then matured into a silver adult.

Oh goodness! I thought their baby chick color would give at least a little bit of a clue to what it would be later. IT will be fun
seeing what colors they will all be.

Katy, me too...I think they get this from Big Daddy...his tail is blue. I am going to keep one of them. The others that I am rehoming are all going to friends, so I will be able to keep up. Thanks for the comment!

I just thought about it, and the only ones that you can be pretty much be sure as to what their adult coloration will be, are the platinum blond chicks. They will always be white as adults. Darker blond chicks will usually turn out to be either buff or wheaten as adults.

Here are my Easter Eggers! I have 1 Blue EE hen that just started laying last week! Her name is Julia, then I have 2 standard EE roos. Their names are " Chicken" and " Chicken Pie."
Here they are:
This is Chicken Pie. I don't know what color you'd call Chicken pie or Chicken. Any ideas?

These are her eggs!!! ( Green ones! )
Julia's egg compared with a BO egg. What do you think? Standard or bantam egg?

One more question: Will Julia ONLY lay green eggs, or will she also lay blue, pink eggs, etc?

So some EE lay blue eggs some lay pink etc? So she will ONLY lay green eggs? And no other color? I though EE layed Pink, Brown, Green, and Blue eggs? So they don't?
