Here is one of the Easter Egger chicks I just hatched
Very cute. I never name my chickens, around here you don't name anything you might have to eat. Sorry, if this grosses you out but these are the facts of life around here.

It's why her name means fire >3 She looks like smoldering wood to me which sadly photo's don't fully capture.

I wont be eating mine most likely, most of my chickens are Banties and definitely too small to even consider bothering to dress. That's what my rabbits are for any who. The names however don't bother me. Heck. I named my Doe Mountain Dew knowing full well unless a critter gets her I'll be eating her someday.
Maybe that sounds even more morbid, but that's part of the joy of growing my own food for me. Knowing my food. I wont be naming her fryer babies - but when it comes to eating her I know I'll cook her while rejoicing in a sing-song voice, "Good ollll Mountainnn Dewww~".
i love all your EE's so much i orderd 6 from mypetchicken for april 12. can't wait. it is like fishing you never know what your going to get. they are a great surprise! happy easter everyone... linda

Wow! She sure looks like a raptor in that photo.
Yea, that's why I love her so. She's the alpha hen with looks to prove it. This applies to the roos too. At night when they go to bed I've peeked a few times and found her with EVERYONE huddled up under her - even Moto and her wings spread across so everyone is covered. she will be an awesome mother someday but for now she just gets to give any opposition the smack down be they Moto or roo in nature. ;D I think she'd kill one of these roos though if they tried to breed her. XD
