I had one more little Buff hatch out this week from the same parents as these two. And one Blue too. All from a purebred Blue Orp and my mutt BUS who I originally thought was a for sure half Buff Orpington and I now know better and not a 1/2 purebred Hatchery Black anything. He was Black and looked like an Australorp was sold as a Black Jersey Giant from Meyer Hatchery. That is where I screwed up. But good things come out of mess ups like this. And playing with the genentics is cool

What color do you all think the blotch is? His mom is a purebred Blue Orp, Daddy is the mix and 1/2 of daddy is Buff Orp, the other half came from an Australorp looking Black. What color is the blotch? Looks Red, but all birds carry to some degree Red. Maybe make a Red Splash?

That is what he is. I like to look at colors and try to make a bird a solid color. Or maybe a Red Splash? Get rid of that blue and leave me the white/silver and a few more red blotches lolololol

Yah, I'd say Blue silver pied?

You never know till you do it. I have purebred Blues Splashes and Blacks that when I get bored of one I can give him a cast off with a lousy tail to see what comes out. That is how I do it around here. And still seem to make a solid color bird with alot of fluff. I have several volunteers who are also directly related and they should have the same genetic traits. Even down to the odd blotch color. Once I can get close with a few birds is when I narrow down what I am after. Right now I am just shoveling food at them and waiting for them to grow out.

Here is another possibility.
Someone is selling eggs from this bird and calling them Chocolate Orpington. That color is relatively close to my blotch
So I am looking for some blotches. lololol MAYBE a CHOC EE?
