So I bought my first four EEs and they are three month old pullets. How long should I have to wait to see what color their eggs are?
I think they might be mixed with Welsummer and one with Leghorn. Does it vary alot? Will their first eggs be the color they will always lay? I'm hoping for different shades, I'm digging the containers of eggs that are real colorful, was hoping to add blue and green ones and pink would be awesome too.

Can someone explain the pink egg to me? Genetically, where does it come from? I have personally never seen a pink egg, and would love to see photos of some. I'm very confused when it comes to this color because I have seen many shades of blue and green and I have seen quite a few crosses with brown egg laying chickens and the eggs result in different shaeds of green and brown. I have seen the blue egg crossed with white egg layers (supposedly) and the result was lime-ish green. So, where does the pink shade come from? Is there Faverolle in the mix? Do Faverolles really lay pink eggs? Hmmmm, I may have to find a Faverolles thread and ask some questions.....

I've seen brown egg layers that lay an egg so pale brown it could almost be classed as "pink". I think that's what this is referring to. It's just a variation of pale brown. As for genetics... don't know.

Pink is actually a shade of brown, not truly pink. I have a couple who lay a pinkish-brown egg.

The rooster is my true Araucana rooster, Rudy. He's clean faced and rumpless and comes from all blue egg layer background. The hens are my black and blue and wheaten Ameraucana hens that lay blue eggs. These are the cutest chicks! They are totally rumpless there is a black, a blue and a red (with blue under the red) and the red and blue ones have a little bit of muff, no beard noted on any of them.
