The EE braggers thread!!!

Ok, I have to post 2 more pictures, and then I will be done for a while.

This is BB (Black Beard), although her beard is turning white now.

This is a picture of most of the flock while they are chillin in the timber behind their coop.

I think this is where the 3 gals were hiding last night instead of coming back in the pen like they usually do.

Everyone thanks for the compliments on the girls (including Oreo the honorary girl).

Plantmgr, you have a lot of versions of black and white, that's cool, I have mostly versions of partridge, your girls are pretty. And about your rooster issue, not sure if he will grow out of his "attitude", also not sure if crossed beak is genetic, or if you are wanting to raise your own chicks. Either way w/ a rooster in my opinion first and formost is attitude, towards humans first and his girls second! If cross beak is genetic and you are wanting baby chicks I'd think twice about that too.

Hi folks! Thought I'd share a picture of the cockerel I added back in April. Although it seems a lot safer for me to just call him an EE, he's actually an Ameraucana (

albeit imperfect) but I intend to use him over my EE gals. I know that the bleed through is undesirable if you're breeding blue Ameraucanas but I'm not and I rather like it! His hackles are solid blue, although the flash makes it appear otherwise. I plan to breed him to a solid blue pullet who was recently demoted to EE status and a plain ol' hatchery EE who lays the most enormous eggs of any hen in the flock (they're blue.)

I think he is very pretty, I love when their "winter face" is a differant color then the area around it. For the record I personally don't concider it a demotion!

I look at it like not everyone wants a manicured rose garden, some of us prefer a field of wild flowers.

I always thought a crossed beak was genetic. But have since read somewhere on a BYC thread it is caused, or can be caused, by incorrect incubation.

My deepest apologies, I should have put quotation marks around "demoted." I was kidding. It was not I who demoted her and I think she's lovely!

I subscribed to this thread because I saw so many folks who seem to enjoy chickens without pretension and I like that.
