Inkheart, mine are all from Meyers hatchery, all hatched on Sept 21, 2010.

JLS and Rebbetzin pretty girls and I am also hooked. I love the fact that even the ones w/ similar colors have such amazing and unique patterns. I make kalidiscope quilts and when you make the individual blocks from the same piece of fabric they have a color thread through them, but they are all different, and my girls (and every one elses who posts pics) remind me of that.

I smiled when you said marbles was the proud daddy, I remembered him from a previous post and he is very close to my oreo. Or at least what my oreo will be, he is still young, but his coloring is becoming more and more like marbles every day

good luck with Oreo. I've been very impressed with the colors Marbles has thrown for me, as well, he has very strong genes in that he has some purebreeds as girlfriends, and all his babies pop out with the peacomb, colored legs and his body shape.
MattiRoo, his son, his mom is a Buff Orp/leghorn and he is a total Marbles image, same body shape, larger pea comb, the only thing that is different is the fact that he is bigger (due to Buff Orp I'm sure) but he is exactly the same body shape. That is why I chose to keep him, to put some size into my next batch of EE's. Hopefully.

Medicine Man, I always look forward to your post on this thread. And why, you might ask? It shows that you have done considerable research in this breed( and I do consider the real ones a breed as they have very obvious traits and similarities) and have actually been around longer than that other breed that in my opinion took their name. I do hope that you will keep us posted on your breeding goals and how it is progressing. If you will just let me know when and eggs can be yours.

Emjay, Thanks for the photo of your Marbles, he is one fine looking rooster! He has the stance and body confirmation that I breed for. He is very much on the alert, doing his natural born duty of looking out for his flock. He so much resembles my roosters here. What is his parentage? Looks to bred from true EE stock.

He does have a proud stance, he runs all puffed out like that stance too, looks funny, I've never seen a chicken run so upright as he does. Would make a funny video. He is very watchful of his girls. Which is one quality I look for in potential boys to keep.

His son MattiRoo, he has the same proud stance, so I'm quite pleased about that. Just as arrogant too. He's a little tamer though. I can hold Mattiroo, but, I don't trust him to turn my back on him, as he think he's just a tad overconfident with how unafraid of me he is. So, now and then, I do chase him off, just so he knows who is boss.

MM to the Max, your first hen is of very interesting color.


so, last night it snowed, and it snowed. It snowed alot. Normally we don't get alot of snow. but when it does, it is in mass amounts. I have some fixing to do tomorrow, it collapsed one roof , I had to prop it up with a landscape tie so that the birds in that run could at least get out in the sunlight.
I opened the run door, and Daisy, my venturist, Daisy, decided she'd brave it. She took flight, and she flew quite a good distance. I was quite impressed. However, when she landed she realized the snow was deeper then she was tall. She was in snow shock, haha. the look on her face was priceless. I luckily had a camera on hand and took advantage of her predicament.

this is her when she first landed, she flew about 1.5 car lengths to get there, haha.

and here I thought a perfect opportunity for you all to see her wonderful feather pattern, was nice of her to pose like this for me.
I don't think she'll venture out again, at least until the snow is gone.

Poor Daisy

I feel her pain, being a confirmed hater of all things winter most especailly snow and ice. But I love the expression of face and body good for you that you had the camera ready. And she is very striking!!!

The stink eye shot if looks could kill ...........

She almost looks like lasars coming out of her eyes they are sooooo red.

yes, she did give quite the look, not seeing snow very often, it startles them. Her eyes are a very different color aren't they? haha.

She is brave, she is the one gal who is constantly in my face when I'm feeding etc. Not sure if she wants to cuddle or peck my eyes out, she definitely is not scared of me or anything, well, she is of snow now. I think she has little dog syndrome, she's a small girl , but, she makes up for it in her bravery. She's also very vocal.
