The EE braggers thread!!!

A Cuckoo Marans roo X a EE hen would work if you want barred chicks, you should get olived colored egg layers too.

Again, it depend on if she is recessive or dominant white, and if she carries one or two copies of dominant white.

9 of my 10 EE babies from my August hatch are laying now. and lucky me, ALL ARE BLUE/GREEN EGG LAYERS, in 9 different shades, from pastel blue to a dark green. I sure lucked out, oh how I love Marbles genes, he's a powerful boy. A keeper for sure.

and I know leg color has nothing to do with egg color, but, all my EE gals have the slate/green legs. coincidence I know, but, they all pulled through for me.

I searched but didn't see the answer to my question so please forgive me if it's here and I just missed it.

I have 5 easter egger girls laying: 2 brown, 2 green, and blue. I've tried isolating two at a time to find out who is laying what color because I want to make sure to cross the blue egg layer with a pre-bred ameraucana boy.

Question: how can you tell who lays what colored egg? Isolation for days? One bird per pen? Marking somehow?

Thanks.

If you have the pen space I would put one bird to a pen. That's what I had to do. I separated one to a pen and then had to wait two weeks for them to lay, I guess they got mad at me for moving them.

Because I am retired I was able to watch the flock and when one went inside to lay I went and checked up on them. But I also like the idea of coloring the vent.
