Boo-yahhh!!!

Guess who just laid her first egg today? The one and only Amber! It was a gorgeous sage green color. It was an itty bitty bantam-sized egg, but it was very good for a first egg. It looks to be a pullet bullet (Love that term, heehee), being narrow and long.

As a side note, my Silkie began laying at the same time. She laid a short, wide egg, with a sharply-pointed top.

As far as my long time association with EE's I have found my roo's to be very well behaved around people. Never had much trouble with "back-jumpers" or such . But, having young children around I would definately keep a close watch on ANY roo til he showed me his true colors. Have fun with your chickies!

I've haven't had an EE rooster yet, altho searching for one, but I do have a BCM rooster and even tho I didn't really handle him when he was young. He is pretty docile lets me grab him without making much fuzz. But like prudelite said you might wanna watch it when there's little kids around as animals some times seem to see little kids like threats or less defensives.

not a very good hatch about a third of the eggs. 4 bcm 9 ee mixes plus 2 that didn't make it. cute little chipmonk colored some with fluffy cheeks, Will give the rest a day longer and then look to see if fertile. the colored eggs I have a hard time hatching alot aren't fertile.
The BCM have a tendiences to be sticky if you add to much water.
Have another bator full of egges should hatch in 12 days I think.
I just put a new wafer in that bator to keep temperature good hope it works.
I alway open eggs to see why they dont hatch. Most the time they are not fertile. I let you know
