The EE braggers thread!!!

Robin your rooster is very handsome and you are so lucky to have found a male that your hens like. That sounds to be the essence of a nice flock. I have yet to have a pleasant rooster. Handsome but not a nice boy. Maybe down the line I'll locate one.

Now I have decided to try Bantams for their convience. Here are my new babies. There are three Ameraucanas in this bunch.

oh pure cuteness! do i see a couple turkens in there too?
this roo is my third for the older girls, the first was a BR and extremely hard on them- and us- he went to freezer camp- the second was a LB and actually a good guy- but he began going after me- so this is who i swapped him for and am so pleased! even some of my snotty girls have gotten relaxed and i can pet them again- and he is beautiful to watch

Yes Robin he is definitly a keeper. I had two Cream Brabanter roosters that I really wanted to keep because they were beautiful and a good Brabanter rooster is hard to come by. But after they started to fly into me and were seperated from the hens and each other, also placed in a crate for a while, carried around. I tried all the ways I knew to humble them and let them know that I am boss. After a while I gave up and gave one away and tried again with the second less beautiful but finally gave up on him. Next I am going to try one of the crested breeds for white eggs. The roosters in the crested breeds have a reputation for calm temperment. Eventually, I would like to try crested blue egg layers, crested EEs. I know way back on the thread peeps have posted their crested EEs.

i hear you on that- i really think the first choice for a roo is a cochin- my banty cochin roo is a gentlemen with the ladies and never has shown aggression to me, the EE roo hasn't shown aggression even to the little roo who lives in a pen next to them... never looked into the crested breeds

I never had any crested either, except a pair of White Showgirls that I won at a poultry auction. Feather feet drive me crazy. High maintenance birds because I am always needing to give them baths. My run is not too large enough for them not to step into poop. I hate that. I rulled out Cochin despite their reputation for being good broodies and sweet birds, too many feathers in all plus those feathered feet. NN also have dandy reputations for being very good all around birds. And easy to process. And of course every flock needs bue and green eggs to compliment the browns and white. I think that at least on of my AM banties is a boy so I can have banty NN/EEs

I was wondering if you EE enthusiasts could answer some questions for me. I purchased some EE's from TSC almost two months ago and I have one,..which I think is a rooster,..and he looks to be tailless. I am posting a picture of him and was wondering if this is unusual to get one without a tail and should he be a keeper,..he has a wonderful attitude so far. I love his coloring too,..I have another rooster with the same coloring with a tail and he is a real sweetheart too. I have six roosters to choose from and this one and the other so far are my favorites. I would like to hear other opinions about this guy though,......thanks!

I am on day 4, the temp and humidity are looking steady and I candled a few this morning that are growing so I may have some photos up in a little more than 2 weeks!

I sat my eggs the 19 th. cuckoos (17) and 18 BCMs 1 olive egg out of a young barred EE she is running with yard dog the EE rooster. Hope to have a good hatch this time it was horrible last time

here is the answer i got back on Galahad, my roo- soooo... still am not clear on what he is- an ee or amer, depending on standards- bottom of his feet are pinkish- but he is a lovely guy!

When I got him I was told he was pure bred Ameraucanas. He has green legs, though, so he fathers green legged as well as blue legged chicks. I think that makes him an Easter Egger. The standard requires blue or slate blue legs. He does have a nice beard, and his body shape is good as well. Overall, he's a handsome rooster.
