The EE braggers thread!!!

Yes it is my guess to you blue grayish color question. I read all the genetic threads about colors and characteristic, which genes are dominate and recessive. And it seems that I had just read some thing about the silver gene being needed for the color blue. Since I am a genetic neophyte I used the question mark to indicate that it was just a guess.

Are you asking me or is this for a previous post?

This is my biggest EE. She is bigger that my RIR's but not as big as the barred rocks. Compared to my other EE's she is huge. lol My chickens like to come and sleep near me while I sit on the porch and drink my coffee. I think they either love me or are trying to stick close to be first in line in case I bust out a treat or two.

Lol my husband laughs at me. I will be walking around the yard with 16 chickens hot on my trail.

I wonder if she has welsummer in her. I have checked all the Ameraucana standard colors and she doesn't match. A true mutt EE. She has slate legs and lays pale blue eggs. Maybe her daddy was Ameraucana and her mommy is welsummer? Lol
I just ordered some welsummer chicks for this summer actually. Can't wait for babies!

We don't all learn real fast but some of us do appreciate the effort.

So what do you guys think of my new rooster "Edwardo"?

Is there a specific name for the bronze and black color pattern?

You could hatch out a few eggs from each rooster to find out which one you liked better. Sorry you got 3 roosters. I had a hard time picking a rooster last year had to have one mailed from MI from another byc member,

Well what are the chances that you pick up 3 EE's from TSC 1 light, 1 medium, and 1 dark and end up with 3 roosters, I'm now thinking all of my EEs are Roo's.....arggggggg, I wanted at least 1 hen, really like them though and now I think even though I don't need more chickens, I will have to order 10 Ee's and pray some are hens. I'll update the pictures again and let you EE experts tell me what I think I already know 3 roo's........argggggg 1 for darn sure, he is trying to crow now at 7 weeks and he sounds like someone is strangling him to death, hehe Kim

Order pullets only you may get one boy, but they will almost all be girls. (We got one boy and 24 girls)

Last year I got 4 chicks from the local store and they were all roosters! This winter, I hatched 5 of my own EE eggs and they were all roosters. I have a much better rate if I buy eggs from someone else and hatch those!
