Too bad you aren't close to me, I would give you my roo roo for free.

I'm sure that many of us have roos we would love to find homes for, but if you are trying to make dark green egg layers, one of your Marans roos over a nice green laying hen is what you want.

On that note, anyone tempted by these handsome boys? They would love to find a home!

Does a triple row comb ALWAYS indicate a roo?

I know you all told me she was a girl, but I would swear there are 3 rows of bumps on that comb.

Sharol - that looks like a hen to me. Some Easter Egger hens have big combs. some of mine did anyway.

She's beautiful. Where did you get her?

I'm trying to decide which hatchery to place an order for Easter Eggers. I'd like to get some of the pretty ones like been posted on this thread.

It would help if people would add which hatchery theirs came from. I know they come in a range of colors, but it would just help me decide.

I've tried Ideals - I liked them, very healthy birds, shades of gold with brown, light powder blue eggs -but I also like the xlarge turquoise eggs of the EE I had from another hatchery--but the dealer refused to tell me which hatchery he ordered them from. That dealer is now out of business so I can't get more from there.

Peaches - that is a lovely colored roo. Which hatchery did he come from? Or is he a cross - his legs aren't dark green.

She looks girly to me too.

I got her from the local Orschlen's in Topeka. They get their birds from Estes in MO, they said. I had really good luck with MPC, but I wanted to pick out 4 birds that were dramatically different from each other (EE's) for variety. YOu can't do that with a mail order. In the chick pic, she is the yellow one with the dustier spots. I really did get a variety.

This is what they looked like as chicks.

This was them (plus a buff orp) yesterday.
