Oh I am happy for you ! I don't know why but the picture of the double yoke on the frying pan made me chuckle . Beautiful hens. Perky little ladies.

I "banded" mine with colored zip ties -- I think DH got them at Harbor Freight ... since my four muffed/bearded partridge-colored girls look very much alike, they now sport loose bands of blue, yellow, black, and purple so I can tell them apart easily ... one of the two clean-faced black-headed girls would not tolerate a band, even a loose one, so she hasn't one and her lookalike flockmate has a white band

I got some colored zip ties at walmart today. They are neon colored, but they will work. Maybe the chicks will even get names once they are banded!

So we went out and got some live crickets from Petsmart as a treat for the chicks. They loved them and it was a hoot to watch them chasing the crickets down in their brooder, then chasing each other when one caught a cricket and another one wanted it. Want some real fun with your chicks go get some crickets!

EE Braggers...I will be starting my inner city flock o' chicks with 4 EE's, 3 Welsummers, 2 silkies this Oct. Only allowed up to 12 chooks total. No roosters allowed. Wanted affectionate and lively hens and figured colored eggs could sell for a bit more than plain white...but how do you price your eggs for sale? Was thinking selling a half dozen at a time in clear containers at the local farmers market (sister already has a booth selling her yummy baked goods). I raised livestock (including parrots) for almost 30 years in a former life so have an idea of the facilities and mindset needed to keep everyone happy and healthy. Have you any thoughts?
Cannot describe how excited I am to be adding chickens to my life! CLUCK ON!

I want more EE chicks!

Called local Farm and Garden and they will not be getting more chicks this month. Employee at TSC hasn't heard whether they will get more chicks or not this month yet, and not sure which breed they will get, but told me they did get Ameracaunas last year (which of course would be EEs). Guess I'll keep checking back with TSC through the month to see if they get chicks and hope they are my EEs. I just want some different colors!

I got some pics of my EEs yesterday, but trying to get to the 10 post minimum si I an post them. I'm going to try to get more pics of them outside too since my ones from yesterday were all inside and aren't that good.
