The EE braggers thread!!!

It was very informative. Ive learned everything I know about chickens from the people on this website. I just bought my first chickens ever in April and I absolutely love them. I bought 6 and 3 were roos and i didnt want any roos.. I kept all of them up until the 3 roos started attacking my 3 year old so they have all since gone to rooster heaven.

I loved them but couldnt have them drawing blood from my daughter. Anyways, I just got my first egg yesterday and boy was that a thrill!!!!!! It was the prettiest green!! Im going to shake it blow it out and keep it forever!!!!

Blowing eggs and keeping them is not weird. Lots of people do that to keep track of color and changes. Kinda wish I had done that... but I am not a big fan of scrambled eggs

You need to add a few more smilies!!!!

I have EE from MM. 2 colors: cream: a salft white with v. lt buff like a cream in the hackles are. Others an orangy bird with dk br flecks, columbian around neck. Nice girls, lay med-lg eggs in blues and greens. No pinks in this bunch.

Sorry about descriptions; still learning the colors and jargon.

Each girl will lay a unique color and you will get to where you know who laid what egg. EE are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you get inside.... till she lays. EE can lay any color egg, thus the name. Most lay Blue-Green eggs, but some lay brown. Any color egg is ok with EE. The pea comb USUALLY means a blue egg gene, but it will not tell you if that egg will have a brown coating too.

I still cannot tell him from her--I look at the feathers. Very difficult . So I wait until my boys tell a rooster has been doing the rooster thing. Basic, but works for me.

There are a few ways to almost determine sex. If birds have pea combs the females has two rows of bumps and the males has three rows. If you can not tell what your bird has use a magnifying tool to see it better.
