Here is a lovely girl I produced last spring from my flock, her name is Pidge:

If only she would hold still long enough to get a good, clear shot of her!
She is out of a mousier version of the same colors. I think her daddy is my Blue Orpington? She is just lovely in person.

I will be curious to see if she lays a blue egg like her momma.

Yours is the prettiest EE rooster I have ever seen. Stunning!

Thanks. We like him a little bit too.

He has wonderful traits: he has quickly become the Dominant Roo in the yard, yet is not aggressive towards us or the other roos. He kinda just stares them down:cool: He is super good with the ladies; he finds food and calls them and eats last. Very classy dude. Now to work on getting some blue in that lacing;)

I just wanted to share my EE with everyone. I'm starting to wonder if she is actually maybe a he - something I've wondered before but never with much consideration behind it. Anyway here is "Adele" who, in this pic was approximatly 21 weeks. We got her from a (less than reliable) breeder who told us at the time she was about 2 weeks old.

She has yet to lay, and is most certinly the gardian of our little backyard flock.

Where do EE's sit on the size-scale of the chicken world? Until recently, all I had were EE's and everyone that has seen them has commented on how "big" they are. I dont really see it- my neighbor has Barred Rocks, Marans, RIR's and some EE's and they all seem to be about the same size as mine.

For reference, I'm 5'3" and my roo came up to my knee when standing normally.

OTOH, I recently hatched out some chicks from a "barnyard mix" of standard chickens (orps, marans, rir's etc.) and a set of EE's. Even tho they hatched on the same day, the EE's are definitely bigger than the others.

Just curious...

I don't know, mine are all different sizes, I think it all depends on their parentage, I have one that is EE x LB and sshe is on the large size. I don't know what her mom was mixed with as she came from a hatchery, but her dad was my Pure LB and she def. took after him.
