The EE braggers thread!!!

I put my backyard mix EE eggs in lockdown today! What an idea to take eggs from your own back yard that were laid by your hen, fertilized by your own rooster and put them in an incubator and HATCH them!! What an amazing idea! Why isn't everyone doing this?? lol I joke of course.
I have incubated many many eggs, all shipped, never before tried to hatch my own. I could be in trouble now!!!

Oh how exciting! I would love to hatch some of mine out just to see what they would look like, but I really want some NN's and only have a limited space, so I will hold off on hatching my own EE until after I get my NN's.

Here's my girl I got today! She's a SWEETIE! I love her so much!

Her name is Bedazzle ;)
Any idea's what her coloring is?

looks like she has wheaten and blue or maybe lavender in her? I'm not good with colors lol, but most EE have weird color combinations,
but theyre all beautiful in their own way

My new EE chicks have a good variety of patterns on them. They are also the fastest at maturing so far. Their legs started out yellow and now they are turning into that bluish grey color. One of them we are not sure if he/she is a EE or not. It is a light gray in color.

Hi everyone...I just love EE's...I went and bought ten more chicks

(I currently have one roo and 5 EE hens). I made sure to pick some of every color...lol....they are all bearded.
Some of the ones I have now are non-bearded, I like both! I currently have 20 EE (possible dads are RIR , EE and Delaware) in the bator.

I have a question...will my EE eggs in the bator end up laying colored as well? I'm pretty sure they will lay what color their mom lays but they will still be considered crosses, unless they were fathered by my EE roo? Or do EE's not breed true? I know a EE is a chicken of any breed crossed with an Ameraucana or Araucana, but what is it called when a EE is crossed with another breed or another EE? Just EEx??Or EExEE?

EE don't breed true, but anything you mix with an EE will be considered an EE. most of the chicks will likely lay colored eggs like the mom

They will lay an egg similar to the Hen, but the sire will contribute too. The RIR and Delaware will contribute brown egg genes and you will get a greener egg from those offspring and maybe even just brown. Welcome to the world of EE...you never know what you will get inside.

Pardon my odd question...
I have heard that with EEs leg color indicates egg color? Green legs for green layers, and slate legs for blue? Is this just an old wife's tale? And how soon can you identify leg coloring in young chicks?
