handsome fellow above ! I hope for you that he is a fine attendant of his flock. So far I have had young cockerels who although they do not bother people are a little hard on their hens. I hope that they mellow with age.

OOps I just noticed a dirty fuzzy butt. Pictures sometimes show things that are otherwise missed. Kassaundra when will you hatch your own ? It is so much fun and I just give them away if I do not have room for all of them.

Finally put my EE pens together this past weekend! They all seemed to do really well with the big shake-up.

I can't wait to hatch the eggs! The hens had been with other roos, how long should I wait to ensure their eggs are fertilized by the new roos? Thanks!

I would wait at least 3 weeks. could take longer....could be sooner......

They are adorable!!!!!

I am dying of curiosity as to what my babies would look like from my Oreo and girls. I don't have an incubator and none of my girls have gone broody. I have a couple of projects in the works (garden and building a new coop) when I get caught up on those things I will probably look into making in INEXPENSIVE incubator and try hatching some out. I didn't want to hatch them out if I didn't have a place to put them, not sure I would be able to sell them (not b/c of me, just not sure if there is a market here for them)

Oh but I am getting some baby chicks in the next week or two. But not EE's, I'm getting some NN's. After the summer we had last year I really wanted to look into very heat tolerant chickens and while I only lost one to heat during that horrible heat wave, ................ an ounce of prevention and all. I will always have my EE though.

Yes, I already keep 2 seperate flocks b/c of how I garden w/ the chickens. Right now both are EE but I have just one rooster in one of the flocks. With this batch of chicks I intend to keep one boy put him in w/ the other flock of EE and then add the NN girls I get (straight run) to both flocks. So one flock will have a NN boy and both NN and EE girls, while the other will have the EE boy and both breeds of girls. The egg color will easily tell which is which and I'll get both "pure" and mixed out of it and can hatch depending on what I want. Or sell depending on what someone wants.

We've not had issues with him yet. We have him and a BR roo with out small flock. I really need to get some more hens to even out our hen/roo ratio but I have to convince DH to let me get a couple more. My EE roo is the smaller of my roos but he is the dominant one. My BR roo though larger is submissive, he doesn't even crow.
