I have to jump in again. My chicken breeding plan has gone a little out of control atm. I now have 59 chicks. 12 are with a broody outside. 20 are BCM. The rest my mix of a splash maran over Ameraucanas and EE"s. What happened was a suprise to me. All but 2 of the babies came out blue. The other 2 came out splash. I was thinking a 50% blue. But noooo LaMar had to be dominate. So everyone is suppose to be an olive or chocolate egger or carrier of the gene.

Sorry, that sounds like me, I tried corssing blue EE's with a Buff Laced Polish roo, thought surley with EE their genes would kick in and see something besides white, but no the dominant white had to take over. I am however starting to see some little topknots on these babies.

Sorry, here are some pics, had to find batteries for the camera....

These two in front are the pullet and roo that look alike, the flash went off so they are a little washed out. The roo is on the left and pullet on the right.

here is the pullet in better light, can really see her green little legs here.

This pic is a little fuzzy, sorry. This one was sold to me as an Araucana

Here the one on the left (top of head shot) looks exactly like the pics of Barred Rock chicks I have seen on BYC. I think the other black one front and center may also be a barred rock, but she really doesn't have the prominent white area on top of her head, and she has yellow around the eye, otherwise looks just like the barred rock baby. If you look closely in this bad pic you can just see that her legs are black, then her toes are yellow...any ideas?

Here is a better pic of the grayish roo, and on the left and in the background are the 5 that were sold as Araucanas....all their little legs are green

awww, very cute...I love the eyeliner on that pullet to the left in that last pic! Can't wait to see what yours and mine look like as adults. And if you really got a black and white hen, I'm going to be very VERY jealous

have a brahma ee chick, folks have said its a cockerel- any opinions??

I had 3 Brahma/D'Uccle that looked quite similar only with bits of color and different colored legs they were all cockerels. I would say cockerel, by the looks of the hackles. how old? my little guys pointy saddles didn't come in until they were about 12 wks.
