I got a couple of surprise hatches. I have a very mixed genetics flock but not sure if I have any actually EE. None that really look like it. The closest ones I have are a few Faverolle hens and one Ameraucana roo. Here are my new babies:
The first one is Chipmonk and the second two pics are of Buttercup.

What do you think? EEs, Ameraucana or ????

Remember, Ameraucanas are a recognized purebred breed, so just like, say, Australorps or Orpingtons, you can't just cross them with something else and still call it an Australorp or Orpington. Once an Ameraucana is crossed out, the product is an Easter Egger.

Also, remember, having true Ameraucanas is also a rather rare thing. Often people think they have one, but they don't. Things like foot sole color, leg color, and plumage color are indicators of Ameraucana vs EE. Because like other purebred breeds, Ameraucanas must need certain traits such as white soles, blue legs, and recognized plumage colors.

My babies are now 4-5 weeks old. They are showing some nice color. But my chicken math was off. So I now have too many for my winterized coop. I thought I would throw them out to you guys first before craigslist. I have EE's I put a splash maran over Ameraucanas & EE's. Some of the EE's have light feathered shanks. All have slate legs except the 3 splash they have a green tint. So all theses are Olive Eggers or the carrier of the gene for the roos. All the roos are up for grabs and some hens. I have yet to count them this week. Last week I had 58. Plus a hen is sitting on 12 eggs. I set them out to free range with the adults during the day. So I will need warning to keep them locked up for the day or came at dusk. I want to keep 10-15. So some girls have to go. I also have a couple of fluffy ones that came from the kids pet Pookey a silver laced cochin with a splash maran roo. Turned out to be blue with heavy feathered feet. What do you think? The BCM pullets are not for sale but the bcm roos are. Also the blue copper maran roos can go. They seem to be harder for me to pick out of the sea of gray. The BCM's came from a breeder in Dalton, GA who has Bev Davis and Cottage hill lines. All the blue ones are mine. The parents are her to see. Local pick up no shipping.

Then that means I have a whole yard of EEs! I only have two pure anything, and that is Pretty Boy, my Wheaten Ameraucana roo, slate legs and all, and Honey, my Faverolle hen.

Not sure if anyone has seen one of these before. It's a Roo (I think) from my black EE Mutt hen that mated with a Barred Roo that I no longer have. He has feathered feet (like his mom) a pea comb and beard (like his mom) and is barred like his dad. LOL. He will be 8 weeks old on friday the 4th.

Oh now that is an interesting bird lol adorable though!

Just curious but what color would the Ameraucanas foot sole color be, as well as leg color? I have one pullet whose sole color is like a neon yellowish greenish color....the leg is black. She used to have black legs all the way down to the middle of her toes (on top) then the end of her toes were yellow. Now she is 6 and a half weeks old and the tops of her toes have gone all black, but the bottoms of her feet as I said above, finding this strange.

I have a 9 PURE BREED Ameraucanas and I cherish them as if they were my own children.
