The EE braggers thread!!!

Quote: With Mites, it is called over preening. They are bothered so much by the lice, that they pull the feathers out!

I watched one of my Golden Comets doing this early this spring. You will have a very hard time seeing the mites. They do not live on the chicken(unless you have Northern Fowl Mites) but in the coop. They come out at night, like bed bugs and feed on the chickens. They then go back to the coop during the day. To see them you have to go out at night with a flashlight and look at the vent area. You will see little reddish specks that move. Also look for hot and inflamed skin around the vent.

If you suspect Mites, look up treating them with injectable Ivermectin. You can eat the eggs! You should also treat the coop with seven spray or Frontline. You could also skip the ivermectin and use Poultry dust. I would use the Ivermectin. I use it at the beginning of each season, so am going to be retreating tomorrow.

From the Chicks that hatched from the Dorking AM cross, I got 1 Cockerel and 2 Pullets. The Breeder was working on a Project and did not leave enough time between Roosters, so one of the pullets may be a pure SG Dorking, but cannot be trusted to not be a cross too.

This is a picture of the three of them, with the Cockerel looking on:

The Dorking AM Pullet has 5 Toes and Slate legs and feet!

This is what one EE said to the other EE when they were trying to snag food in the Silkie pen...

"Be calm and look dumb...we'll just blend in!"

My 2 EE are a week older than these silkies, but they enter at their own risk since they are out-numbered. The white EE is named Angel and the black one is named Ebony. The poor things are having a hard time finding their place in the flock of large fowl so I'm constantly chasing them out of the silkie pen.

Everyone's ee's are so pretty!!

Here are my two ee chicks!

Lovely chicks! What I like best about the EEs is the variety. Not that you were asking, but the second might turn out to be a roo. Can you post again in a few weeks? I'm trying to figure out how to tell with these mostly red ones.

Here's two of my little Black EE's that where raised together and all the other chickens are older so they just stay super close to each other and other Bigger Friends.
Piper my LGD actually Hunting BullFrogs in my pond...Piper hates bullfrogs????

My Chickens love to be around my pond. Cause of the Bamboo and all the shade from the trees .....OH and When I feed the fish "Pond Sticks"...THEY come a running. I have Yet to have one drink or fall into the pond ...Thank goodness!!

I don't post here often, but just thought I'd give an update on my EE roo:
He was killed by a raccoon. It's so upsetting! The little guy was so pretty! He was like a splash color. BUT I do have a few EE in the bator now hehe.
Here's my baby that was killed:

The two silkies were killed too <.< I am getting a padlock on the human door this weekend, seeing as all the chickens that were in the coop are now dead. I'll keep you guys updated with the ones in the bator though :)
