The EE braggers thread!!!

I don't post here often, but just thought I'd give an update on my EE roo:
He was killed by a raccoon. It's so upsetting! The little guy was so pretty! He was like a splash color. BUT I do have a few EE in the bator now hehe.
Here's my baby that was killed:

The two silkies were killed too <.< I am getting a padlock on the human door this weekend, seeing as all the chickens that were in the coop are now dead. I'll keep you guys updated with the ones in the bator though :)
Oh, that is terrible. I'm sorry you had to go through losing your baby chicks.

I've never had mites on my birds before, so I can't speak from experience, but I read that they can if it's a bad enough case. They can also lose them if they're going through a lot of stress. Thanks! Her name is Chichi :) I need to do an update pic, she's gotten bigger.
I would love to see your other EE's too!Btw would you be interested in a trade of eggs?I would love to have hens like her in my flock.

Boy would I! Thing is she's just 13 weeks old and so are my other 4, so it would be a while before I could get any eggs from her, much less fertile eggs that I would feel are of quality size. Why don't you pm me and lets talk and show pictures? :D

Well, to each their own :) I think it's nice that you're trying to co-exist. I guess I'm just not that nice when it comes to predators lol! Good luck though, raccoons are extremely smart, and can learn to get into almost anything.
I ain't to fond of them killing my stuff and eating my corn either. I built a live trap and set it caught 5 coons in 7 nights. They fat too. Here is one of them. She will be going on the BBQ pit soon..
I loaned the trap , now I need to get it back. My LGD got her collar caught on a snag and strangled.. I got a new pup, BUTT she is too small to stay in pasture. She finds ways to get out. I have a wire strung across the pasture. I'll be putting her on that this weekend. She is not quite 4 mos old, BUTT does raise a fuss when some strange critter shows up. That may be enough the keep them away. I have lost 3 Young ducks, 1 grown duck, all 4 of my young turkeys and several
hens since my dog died. She was Marema/Anatolian.
She sure liked hunting in the marsh

\You can see how fat this coon was.

Oh my, that is one HUGE coon! They don't grow 'em like that in AR. My dad goes Pheasant hunting every November in Nebraska and one year he came back with one nearly that big. All the folks around town were shocked at the size of it! Nice lookin' dog, too, so sorry you lost her. I'm really more of a cat person, but I do love a good, loyal dog.

My plans are to change all hens into EEs. Here are my first three pullets from when I had an Ameraucan rooster.
buf
Buff laced, bearded polish over a white ameraucan. She should lay blueish eggs and looks to be crested a blue splash EE ?

right is an white ameraucan over blue marans. Should be an oliver egger. the white is just a white ameraucan and on the L is a splash NN pullet. All my grow out pullets should be making eggs by August. yeah !

Love the crested EEs! I'm crossing some of mine with my Silver laced Polish next spring to see what I get. Here's an update on my gals:
Jolly Roger

Chichi

Heidi

Heidi's sideview. I just think she's pretty with all her different colors.

Honker

And last but not least, Mean Bird! Couldn't get her away from her friends the Welsummer and Light Brahma. She likes to congregate. They are all 13 weeks.

Lovely chicks! What I like best about the EEs is the variety. Not that you were asking, but the second might turn out to be a roo. Can you post again in a few weeks? I'm trying to figure out how to tell with these mostly red ones.
Really? They turn six weeks old tomorrow I can get a pic. So far its seems pretty girly but who knows

TinkyFeathers your avatar picture is a darling NN pose.

Simmonsfunnyfrm very pretty group of EEs. I like the first two best. No 1 with the colorful head and collar and lighter body feathers is rather unique. I haven't seem much of that style.
