Here are my 3-4 week old EE's. I'm beginning to think "Lucy," the bigger bird is a male, because of the somewhat pink developing comb. It seems a bit early for the bird to be getting one (as I've read). The reddish brown coming in on the shoulders also has me wondering. The smaller bird is "Ethel." What do you think? Gender?

Both chickees...

Yeah, I think you're right. You'll have to change his name to Fred, so you'll have Fred & Ethel.

I'm leaning more towards a boy as well due to what you stated & the slower feathering here & there. They are both gorgeous birds, enjoy!

Here is my EE/Silkie cross at 4 months...she is a HE...boo. Very strange looking bird but very sweet so far. The coolest is the blue earlobes, IMO.

From this:

To this:

I thought he was going to be small because of the Silkie but he is not too little. I think once he's full grown he will be a good size rooster. Anybody want a nice EE mix roo? :)

oh wow... he's so cool! i sure would take him in a heartbeat... wish i lived closer!

Hey there! I am new to the EE thread, but my gals (

) are about 10 weeks and there is a marked difference between them. I got them at the same time, from the same place, same hatch and they were marked Americanas. I understand that means they most likely just EEs. So why is one so big and the other little? And the larger one is showing some red on the comb, is this just normal growing or is this the first sign of a roo? I JUST had to rehome two other birds that started to crow at 12 weeks.

Sansa & Arya:

Sansa (larger one) - has more green in her legs, definite 3 rows of peas

Arya - has more grey colored legs, less noticeable "peas"

Thank you so much for your help. I have learned so much from reading here, although I am only 10 pages or so in...

I am new enough, that I shouldn't say, but they look like girls to me. All of my girls have started to pink up at about ten weeks, some more than others. My boy, I knew at four weeks, but he's a RIR. They are that classic girl EE partridge color...I think.
I wanted to reply to you though to say I Love your names! That is my favorite book series of all time :D
