I had a really light chick that ended up female.  This is Nugget as a baby.




She ended up looking like a lot of chicks.

She looks light, but not quite silver chipmunk pattern

Anyone want to guess on gender just by this wing pattern/colour?

Okay I'll bite, looks aweful splotchy, my guess would be boy.

YEP! Not an EE, but is the mother of some of my EE bantams

So the conclusion is what? Not every splotchy patterned bird is a boy! Bonnie looked like a quilt!

I had 2 yellow babies, both hens, one has the all yellow and Pepper has the stripey Mohawk, also included a couple as she grew........Kim

It isn;t the lightness that made us think boys. It was the pattern. The silver chipmunk pattern.

I had two yellow chicks and one yellow w/ very slight almost couldn't see darker fluff edges, all three were girls (two whites and one a pretty apricot and white) But that light chipmunk silver color seems to be a dead give away for a boy.
