Hatchery Partridge Rock Broodies!!!

And they were GOOD at it! Caladan hatched 10 of 12 one clear, one weird disaster - living egg got rolled inside an already hatched egg and suffocated. Penelope, hatched five, one early quit, one clear. I hatched five of six, one quit on day 15. All in all - all three of us rock...

These were the best eight out of the 25 I got but I'm pleased and some are even complete pg, making the project easier. I'm surprised they were so competent the first time around. I've had first time broodies give me heck in the past and present (broody turkey drove me nuts).

These have been gems, even if I did start out with hatchery stock we've got the beginnings of something good. And I have some of Halo's BBS Rocks now as well. And a couple of Speckledhens barred rocks. Rock Rainbow here we come...

George thinks he is IT!!! Fortunately he's also a sweet boy. Cuz he's getting huge. Now his children are growing and soon we'll see what he's producing.

He officially sucks at crowing though he does do it often.

The baby PR markings on these are much clearer than the ones on the original group. I'm hoping that means something and some appear near identical to their mothers at hatch, which should be fun to watch. Since the others are black - bleeding red or barred , from the BR/PR or PR/BR ( I had a Barred Roo, this is some of his work.) It's going to be interesting to compare them as they grow to their parents.

Next set of goals are pg complete birds only in those already PR and to breed PR/BR and BR/PR back to Partridge to move up again. Then add Del blood for size- completely throwing colors to the wind for two generations. And these are huge Dels. Yay.
