The EMERGENCY Thread!!!

Hi @CP Chicken

How old is your chick?
Is she in a brooder or does she have access to outside?
Can you post some photos?

What type of food/treats are you feeding?

Foaming at the mouth and lethargy could be a crop issue - check the crop to see how full it is. Is she pooping o.k. - what does that look like?

S/he is 6 weeks old, and has had access to outside since she was hatched by a broody hen. I'll try to get pictures.

A few days ago I started giving them pieces of apples as treats. Not sure what the name of the food we give them is (I can ask my mom if you want me to) but it's the same kind we've been feeding our chickens for 5 years now.

His/her crop is very full, but maybe I should check it again tommorrow morning to see if it empties overnight? When I went to check on her she was also sneezing. Not sure if she is pooping okay; should I isolate her so I can watch her more closely?

I would check to make sure the crop is emptying overnight.
See that she has access to some type of poultry grit (crushed granite/small stones) and is drinking.

Hopefully the sneezing is just clearing the nostrils, could be due to crop issues as well.
If isolating overnight will help you get a good look at her poop and monitor her crop function, then that would be o.k. It may stress her, so keep watch for that -you may want to separate her out when it's roosting time.

I have a 10 week old pullet that one of my broody hens hatched and I just noticed 3 days ago that she was having trouble with her left wing and left leg, I then realized that the feathers from her wing were stuck around her leg so I removed them and it seemed to be better but when I went back out that night, she was on the floor and had flipped onto her back and could not stand up again. She has been separated out to try and rest her legs, but I have seen no improvement and now both of her legs and wings are weak and she cannot walk. The left leg is still worse than the right and she will lay down and stick it out to the side, we have felt up and down her leg and it doesn't seem to be broken, but more tender right where the scales meet feathers on her leg. She feels really hot and whenever we pick her up both of her legs just shake, we think that she might have a fever. Her wings are also weak and she can't seem to keep them tucked up.

can you give some electrolytes or sav-a-chick?

she seems too young for mareks, my guess would be a vitamin deficiency of some sort
how is her poop?
is she able to eat? is she eating? are the others picking on her?
Her poop has been normal and she is eating and drinking normally, she has been seperated out, but before i seperated her her mama hen wouldn't let anyone pick on her even a little.
