The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

At least, most of those stay in their own country. She's leaping off into a bottomless pit of the unknown. No way I'd ever go to the UK in this climate now. It's a dangerous place to be. But, hey, she's made her bed and she'll get her just desserts, I'm sure.

I hope all are ok with the massive storm hitting. How are you doing getaclue and Cyn?

Rain is about to hit us. Tonight and tomorrow are the worst of the storm for us, being, once again, in the outer bands. This time, it's going a different direction, sort of making a big X with the last storm over SC. I'm about to lock up the birds for the night. Our temps will go from the 60's tonight into the 40's for tomorrow night, our lowest yet. So, fall is really here.

Bailey showed interest in some tomato pieces today and now, she's actually dustbathing with her sisters. That's the most alive she's looked in days. Hopefully, she'll do an upturn now. And my son's soon-to-be ex is spending the next day at a friend's house then will leave on Friday. He's going to take an hour off to be sure she leaves without incident. Today, she sold back her KIA Sorento to the dealer and had them make the check for over and above the payoff out to my son so it appears she's maybe feeling the least bit guilty for being a faithless skank...maybe. He did pay all the payments on it, not her. She spent her money on frivolous crap, it seems to me. He plans to have a huge yard sale in December after he can sort through all the stuff. I hope she is not back in the States by then. She already put her location on FB as "Liverpool". I don't think she's going to like it there. She romanticizes everything like a teenager even though she's only 11 years younger than I am!

Cyn looks like you are going to get wet. We are in the middle of a deluge, raining like crazy all afternoon after days of rain, pens are a muddy mess but the girls are outside happily paddling around in the rain. 58 right now, high tomorrow only in the 40's, but at least they took snow off the table. Looks like snow in Minnesota though, and maybe Wisconsin

We are nearly drowning in rain here. I'm glad it's gonna get colder. The stupid Asian lady beetles are trying to get in my house with this warmer moist air. I'm having to run my air conditioner to remove all the moisture. It's crazy, probably tomorrow I will run my heat. :idunno

We have stink bugs, blech. The cold will get rid of the ones outside. I just have to hope I don't have too many that hid inside. I was dumping them out of my fabric stash for a week once. You have to be careful not to smash them or they smell terrible.

We just had a left out hen. I was in the house and Tom had locked them inside because I wanted to take a shower-it was so sticky today, I felt icky. I told him to be sure and count six hens for Bash since his group was outside. So, 30 minutes later, as I'm watching TV and took a moment to go check my email, out the window I heard a ruckus and at first thought it was the chickens down the hill going off, then Bash started so I walked onto the deck and it sounded like a chicken out in the pen. Sure enough, Cora had been left outside, it was getting dusky and she was screaming bloody murder. That was a close call. Thank goodness for her big mouth!

Stink bugs here too. We've only noticed them the last 3 or 4 years but they squeeze their way in around the doors and windows to hide for the winter. I accidentally stepped on one the other day and disgusting black juice shot out and hit me in the ankle - yuuuk! I had to run and scrub the heck out of my ankle! :sick

They sneak into the upstairs here. It's just an attic-type upstairs, but we do occasionally use it for a guest bedroom. We always have to sweep them up when we're getting it ready for guests. They get between the mattress and box, under the covers. In the pillow cases. On the window sills. In the curtains....
