The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Sorry for your loss. She had a good life with you. I admire how well you take care of your poultry.
Thanks. She's still here, but very frail. I don't expect her to get better, but then, I didn't expect Georgie to, either, and she's back to her normal, bossy Delaware self.

Seems there is another offer coming in on my lot. And the only person it can be is my neighbor (or her son, who is the actual interested party). No one has looked at the property because I know when someone drives down the power line easement. She isn't home right now, but when she gets back, Tom is going to try to talk to her and tell her it's us wanting our land back. If I have to guilt them into backing out, so be it. I don't want some other out-of-state person trying to be a chummy neighbor down there. This is just great, just peachy great. :( I can't be civil to people any more. It's bad enough I have her and the Wilsons that I can see in the winter. I can't stand the thought of being surrounded by even more (excuse me, Cheryl) Floridians. The only reason I say that is that's what happens to be here, that's who *colonized* this subdivision, most everyone from Ft . Pierce, FL. I know her son's intention would be to build down there . He bought the lot behind his mother so not sure why he wants that one, too.

Tom is a royal pain. He doesn't even care. He'd live in an apartment again. I'd die. Actually, if he wants that, he can just go do it, but I won't. I want peace and quiet, not more people. He's going to be really mad at me before this is all said and done. His view is he has few years left and he's sitting right here where it feels like home and his mortgage will be paid off soon, no matter what happens around him. My view is I want my life to be the way I want it the last few years of my life, not surrounded by a bunch of city folks living in mountain homes all around me, invading my space, making noise and having their stupid get-togethers and talking to each other, driving ATVs around in circles on holidays and trying to say hello to me. If I hear more than birds and other wildlife, it's too much for me. I'm in a panic now.

New development....we called the lady all day and finally she was home. Tom was fishing for information, asked her if she'd found information on the property. She said her son won't be back until December and if it was still here then, he'd look at it and see if he wanted to make an offer. She asked if we were interested in it, to which Tom replied that I was very interested in getting it back. He didn't tell her we'd already made an offer. She said, "Then you'd be the logical ones to get it." And she also said the realtor called her back today after her inquiry yesterday before they had any information for her, so what it seems like this is that the realtor meant by "entertaining" more offers - they're hoping she will make an official one, but it doesn't sound like she will....typical realtor stuff, trying to get us to up our offer, which is only $1000 less than the asking, with us paying our closing and them paying theirs. And we don't need a survey or perk test so no hitches in those departments.

So, seems like ours is probably the only one on the table unless a ringer comes in, but lots like this with no maintained or paved roads, overhead power lines and full of brambles and bears and no real covenants other than the barest minimum rarely sell fast. Bet this agent had settled in for a year or more to wait, considering the sheer volume of land for sale in this county, most of it in paved, covenanted subdivisions. He's thrilled to be able to get it done immediately, if you ask me.

Hopefully, I panicked for nothing!
