The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

They still show it as being in my order, as being put in there and they did charge me for it. We had to call them. So, still waiting on a credit. I really hate giving up control to someone else, definitely not in my nature in any part of my life. May have to suit up in hazmat gear and brave the world eventually.

I don't worry about it. Some of the alternatives are corny.Atleast we got a lot of food!

Talk about locking all your animals up. Tyson closed their meat processing plants, like chicken, beef, pork. They had 13 employees total who have died of covin19. (Not all at one time.)
There will be a shortage.

News #2. countries in Europe it will not be legal to cull male chicks in 2021. They now know how to identify males at 3-6 day of incubation. I hope the US follows suit. I guess those countries in Europe see this as a much more humane way to not have lots of unwanted roos. I always wanted this to happen!

The Facebook Nazis are very unthinking creatures. I posted hatching eggs for sale and they said it violated community standards because it was an animal for sale. Um, never saw an egg walk, sorry, idiots. I had an item for sale in a regular yard sale site and it wasn't anything weird, but the comment "Still avail" was shut down as "Adult sexual" something and said it was a no-no. WTH? So I said "Item is still available for sale". They're morons. I hate FB so much. They allow you to form groups that even say "SALE" in the name for animals but then they slap your wrist if you try to sell them. Why not just don't allow it in the first place, the group I mean?

Oh, Cetawin was not here, Karen. I posted an old story she told, just quoted her. She hasn't been on here in a long, long time.

Now that is funny!!!
I am on facebook because the people I worked with 1992-2004 in Neonatal ICU are on there. They're in NY and I like chatting with them and a few other from my past.

I would pull the old fence, unless it is in almost new condition. It will sage, rust and create a hazard on your side of the fence if you install the new on the outside.

The easiest, fastest way to set metal T posts is with a good-sized tractor with a bucket; you use the bucket to push the posts in, and it literally takes seconds. You can put posts in so fast it makes your head spin, far less work than manually pounding them or digging post holes. You could likely set posts around your whole farm in less than an afternoon. Maybe someone has a tractor and rents their time out.

We used wooden posts for the corners, at gates, and on longer strait lines to place a tensioning setup.

There's no way to get a tractor in that area on the entire side between us and what used to be the Wilsons' property. It's on a steep bank and heavily wooded. I can do it on the power line easement road and across the back where the pasture is, but that side is a no-go for a tractor unless someone clears out that side. I'd prefer to keep it as wooded as possible, to tell the truth. I don't want that clear any more than it has to be. So it's a hand labor job on that entire side. I also want to do it as cheaply as possible, but I don't want to put up short, cheaper fencing like we did the first time.

We own a hand held auger. It's not easy to use, beats us both up because it takes both of us to hold it. We have ribbons of sandstone big as park benches and if we hit one, it can jerk the entire thing out of our hands and wrench Tom's back. So, no way we can even use that. Easier to pound U-posts here. This is the side I'm talking about, on the right is our land. That is blocked off by trees down now since Steve Meyer did what he calls road work to scrape the roads. All he did was make a giant hole at the culvert that becomes a swimming pool in the rain and trees are laying down and I'm not doing a darn thing about that. Keeps ATVs from whizzing down it. The picture of the back of the original coop is up the bank from that road so you can see how it slopes down to that jungle-ridden road.
