The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I am nearly as immuno-compromised as it gets. I too agree with normal cleanliness, but not phobic, wearing useless masks*, unproven vaccines, constant washing of hands, hand sanitizer, etc.
*-By useless masks, I am referring to the ones typically used, not the specialty medical grade ones that those in the medical profession have access to, but the general population can't obtain. It also includes that the ones used by medical professionals, are tested with a fake scented smoke, when they put them on, to ensure they're sealed properly on the face.

I do wipe the push bar on my shopping cart. That's not because of covid. Homeless people, dumpster divers, and dirty nasty people touch those things too. I put on disposable gloves when my grandson's aim is off, and I clean around the toilet. Again, not because I'm a germaphobe, but because it's nasty, and I don't want to touch it directly.

As to my immune system, while I am immuno-compromised, my immune system does work. It may not kick in as fast, or quite as strong at first as that of a healthy person, but it does work. The less I'm exposed to, forcing it to work, the less immunity I have to things. By forcing my immune system to work, the more immunity I have. Were I to become overly concerned about exposure to things, I could get to the point that the common cold could be a serious ordeal.

I'm not suggesting that if there's a ship where everyone has ebola, that we should all go jump aboard the ship. Common sense must figure into the picture too. Common sense works both ways. In other words, don't go to extremes.

Me, too! Same thing and I agree with you 100%. Kids with snotty noses sit in those carts, ick. I won't restrict my oxygen with any mask. It doesn't help and can harm. Others can make that decision for themselves, but they can't force me to do it because they want me to suffocate myself. I have personal reasons why if you cover my face, I become extremely nervous, almost panicky. I can't and won't do it. No one has anything to fear from me because I have not been sick in a quarter century. Like you, I won't live my life in constant fear of every germ-I think that's a worse pandemic than any physical one and I've seen people acting out of fear ever since this mess began. It hasn't been pretty, but the big "they" want you afraid and, if they can manage it, sick, too. I'm also not jumping on any Ebola ship, LOL! There's unafraid and then, there's just brain dead stupid!

I visited my oncologist this morning. It's not all bleak, and dismal. She ordered several other tests, that the hospital should have done, but didn't. I'm not completely out of the woods, but the outlook is more favorable than negative, at this point.
That's good, Cheryl. Thinking good thoughts for a better outcome for you.

Sure thing, my friend.
Oh, by the way, Finn likes the lysine supplement that Mary recommended. Mary, they were late getting it to me-figures, since it was the only thing in my order I wanted to be here on time. FedEx could not figure out where I lived for some reason. Finn really likes the maple flavor and hopefully, it will help his eye condition.

seminolewind, I'm being held together with meds. That'll work until I get to my oncologist on Wed. I have to admit, the final doctor I saw at the hospital was NOT stingy with the meds, and refills.

Your husband's case is not the first I've heard of that they were diagnosed with pneumonia, but due to a positive covid test, were given nothing to treat the pneumonia. It's insane. With, or without covid, they should be treating the pneumonia. I'm glad his doctor is addressing it.

The first time we had covid here, it knocked us on our butts. We got the alpha strain before it even became official about covid. It ran it's course, but towards the very tail end of it, my daughter and I developed respiratory issues. Due to me having occasional asthma, I had all the things on hand that we needed to deal with it. 2 days after we began dealing with the respiratory issues, and we turned the corner, so to speak. Breathing returned to normal.

The second time we got covid, it was a breeze (Dh tested positive). No major problems whatsoever, with any of us. The third time (Dd #1 tested positive), if it weren't for the test, we wouldn't have even known we had it.

Can't your daughter take care of your horse for the couple weeks it will take for you to get over this? Could you buy enough hoses to get water to it, without having to haul it? Maybe even get enough pvc over time, and a spigot, then rent a trencher to put it all in neatly, so you would have water out there. Could you put a few big metal garbage cans just outside the pasture, so the horse can't knock them over, but you wouldn't have to constantly haul feed, and hay? It just seems a shame that at this late stage of things, you'd have to get rid of your horse. BUT I do understand that "you gotta do what you gotta do", as the kids say

And of all the rotten things this week, my DH got spectrum today just the wifi. Nothing with the tv. However his tv works like usual and mine won't get a signal. So I sit here pretty mad that someone fooled with the main box and I lost my signal. Then he goes to bed early and I am stuck without my tv. I am so mad!!!!
