Was just checking the SOP book. The broader back, is more desirable. I TOLD you all that Hector was/is a keeper, and to quit picking on him...LOL!

When I picked up Thea to put her down to poop, I found one egg crushed under her. Today is Day 18. The kicker is, the chick is moving inside, ack! I brought it in, wrapped a warm, wet rag around it and placed it in the fold of a heating pad on low, but this early and this crushed, I don't hold out much hope for it. If it was on Day 20, maybe....

Me, too. Someone wanted a splash partridge chick and this is Betsy's egg, one of the only ones that could produce that, darn it.

I think it's already gone, but when my son leaves, I'll check closer. I see no more movement, poor baby.

Sometimes if you open a hole in that membrane so they can breath they can go a day or two without coming out of the egg while they finish their business. I wonder how it got crushed like that? That is tragic, sorry.

It could have been Hector wanting to sit on the nest or stand beside her all the time. Anyway, there was too much shell off the egg, it was so brittle. There is no movement still, even when I push on the membrane. I think it was just way too early.
