The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Atlas been good as gold with me is all I can say. Today, perfect gentleman. I don't use any "weapon" when I open the human door and he runs toward it. I just lean over and slide up the pop door, which is all he seems to want first thing in the morning. He's finally calling his girls for treats rather than scarfing them down himself, too.

His little half brother is adorable. I guess I'd better name this one, too. because, unless they leave really early on, everyone gets a name for training purposes. The pure Delaware cockerel is Asa rather than Ike, Jr, or Little Ike, as I've been calling him because he may end up staying here and can't have two Ikes; Delia's little daughter is Sammie Jo and this guy is.....who?

How about Samson?
I sort of wanted to name him Sam, coincidentally (more after sexy Sam Elliot than the Biblical reference, lol), but since I have a Sammie Jo already and if he stays, they'll be in the same group, could become confusing. I did name my Belgian D'anver rooster Spike's brother Sam but did not keep him. Good suggestion, though, diva!

We have the "wise" names going like Isaac and Asa. And Solomon was another son of Isaac's out of Georgie who went to live in Tennessee three years ago. Asa was a king and was King Solomon's great grandson. And of course, Rex means "king".

He looks like a Romeo to me.

. He sure is struting in the first pic.

Please don't call him Adolph - too many bad memories for too many people. My grandfather lost most of his family because of him.

Oh, absolutely not, don't worry. It makes me think of Adolph's Meat Tenderizer anyway.

Maybe Simon or Elias or Reuben or Ezra. Maybe I ought to just call him "Extra", LOL.

Thanks for visiting Atlas's thread!

What's going to happen is I'll suggest something and the hubby who always says, "It's up to you, they're your chickens" will say, no, he doesn't like that. He'll want to go with a name from Star Trek or something in one of his TV series he likes.

Funny coincidence this morning- I used to have a BW Ameraucana cockerel I named Levi that I didn't keep (sometimes I wish I had). He was gorgeous, but of course, that name left here with the bird when he went to live in Tennessee with one of our members. I was just thinking that this little guy is the 3rd of and last of the chicks with Dottie that isn't named so I decided to check for boys' names meaning "third". Guess what came up? Levi.

Means joined, but here is the paragraph:

Quote:

These photos involve the chicks and Atlas and his girls. Rowena was particularly entranced by little Asa.
