The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Dottie is beautiful but, she is really stripey instead of dotty

Well, yes, she is, but she was named after DH's late Aunt Dot, so....

You have to admit she looks like something out of the ragbag right now

Yeah, she's a little all over the place right now, poor thing. She's lost a ton of weight, mothering these chicks. And there's that broody molt they are thrown into from the reduced food intake. The oldest two are 7 weeks old and she's still dropping them food like they were 2 weeks old. I make her special stick-to-the-ribs food to try to spur her appetite, but she's a dedicated mother, this one. I need to get some weight back on her because chilly weather will be settling in by the first of the month and I just love this hen.

Adding photos of Atlas' other half sisters, Robin and Wendy. Robin has almost no silver ticking on her and is laying. Wendy is still not laying. They are still and shall remain in the main flock with their sire, Rex.
Robin is the larger pullet of the two sisters. Wendy is the most friendly, in fact, insisting on attention.

The rest are of Wendy. Robin is more camera-shy.

And the leaves are turning. They began back at the end of July, really, with a few here and there and now are turning quickly.
