The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I've had to cut down on places I like to walk because the kids think older folks are easy targets. Also as you call them "adult adolescents" - just no respect for anyone.

Their parents are the adolescents I was referring to. They have never matured , they do not know how to rear their chikdren, nor
do they know how to rear a child to become an adult. because they haven't learned it. Sad for sure. They expect the government to support them all. Or their own parents to step in to take over. I do believe in certain circumstances to help people as I am a Christian but not to encourage the birth of more children into unmarried families. The motherand father should have to work , if she gets an allott ment. of anykind. I cringe when I hear someone say, Oh! we are not getting married until the baby is older so we can get food stamps and medcaid. Mom and Dad should be required to work for the money they receive.

I am tired of seeing them with loads of groceries from food stamps and then pull money out to buy three or more boxes of beer
and cigarettes.

Deacon needs a lesson in common sense.

I'm glad Atlas isn't dumb as a box of rocks. Atlas is looking fantastic.
Thanks! I am very proud of Atlas. Deacon on the other hand, not sure where his smarts went.

Hope Deacon continues to improve, do you think he has trouble eating because his eye sight might be affected? I have one short sighted eye and one long, sometimes I have to close one or the other to focus where I need too, otherwise I sometimes get double vision.
Since he's Tiny's son, I've always been cognizant of the fact that he could have impaired eyesight, not knowing if hers was genetic or not. It was one reason I didn't want her to reproduce (thought her egg was Neela's). At times, he's seemed to not see things well, but he's always been able to pick out his favorite part of the scratch mix, the corn. I'm wondering also if the hit on the head or whatever Isaac did to his neck also messed with his eyesight. Since I didn't see exactly what did happen, anything is possible.

We had a rooster like that got put in his place but was to dumb/stubborn to submit and got the crap beaten out of him and once he was up and running again he was out to fight everything
Sounds about right.

Look what people do to each other every day on the news, humans are supposed to have functioning brains. Maybe we expect too much from chickens.
Well, I guess I do expect a lot from my roosters. Overall, most of my chickens make much more sense than humans I see on the news.

I promise, I will not allow Deacon to go on food stamps and take advantage of the system, Gloria Jean.

ETA: At about 4:30 p.m. today, for the first time, I saw Dottie become hostile to one of the chicks, the barred brother of Atlas. So, she is now one of Atlas's hens and the three chicks are on their own until such time as they become large enough to go in with Rex's group.
