Nugget has taken a fast downward turn today. She was unsteady on her feet, not leaving the coop, standing by the waterer all day, swaying a little from time to time. I let Xander and Dusty out to free range a little while ago, to see mainly if Nugget would follow. She didn't, at first.
I did some things inside and when I looked out, saw her on the ground with Dusty on one side and Xander at her head. She had tried to follow them to the blueberry bushes, got quite a ways and collapsed, her legs too weak to go further. DH picked her up, found she'd been drinking copious amounts of water, legs just dangling. She is back in the coop in a nest of shavings, with the others locked inside with her so she won't attempt to go down the ramp into the pen and fall (though I don't think she would anyway). The hardware cloth screen door is open so she can see out, a fan blowing on her. She is panting though neither of the others are. It's warm out but not hot in the shady area there. I think she is going to leave us very soon, maybe by tomorrow. And the rub is she is just as beautiful as she ever was, does not show her age in the least.
