I grew up eating blackberry jellies and jams my parents made from berries picked at granddaddy's farm in Carrollton, GA. I had that much more than grape, that and apple jelly. I have about a dozen jars of apple jelly snatched from my late father's basement, mostly put up in 2006/2007, at least the dates I can still read on the tops, plus fig preserves. I can't grow figs here at my place for some reason, probably the elevation/winters.That is great news about June. My goodness, she really is a strong gal. I know you were expecting her to go at anytime. I'm so glad she pulled through.
Cyn, they are fans from Home Depot. They tend to move a good bit of air, and hold up pretty good, since they are under a roof, and not directly exposed to the elements. My set up would not be ideal for up north, and in colder climates, but it is a good set up for down here in the south. Heat is a bigger problem down here, and we don't have much cold to speak of.
Yes, it feels great to have them here with me. While my daughter took good care of them when I was unable, she never mentioned their spurs, and I assumed she was filling them down. I've never let them get that long. I knew today would not be a good day for me, so I got them all done yesterday. They cooperated, so it was easy.
This summer, I want to plant various fruit trees, blackberry canes, and see about getting a beehive started. Dh is in agreement with that, except he's fussing a bit about the cost of the trees, and he doesn't like blackberries. He likes seedless blackberry jelly though, so that's my ticket in. LOL.
Yes, June is still good this a.m., perky and being head hen again (well, as much as she can be with that Evil Heffalump Dusty in her pen). Piglet is the best. I'm going to be so darn sad when I lose him. As tiny as he is, Pooh-bear is smaller and less agile than he is. Makes me think she may go first.Any update on June? I should have read further! Glad she is back in the coop!
Piglet sounds so darn sweet! Its sad thinking they wont live long![]()

Um, well, um, I dunno what to say to that. It was one of my better times, weight and hair-wise. Now, more weight, less hair. Same for my sons, LOL! My older son used to get so mad when someone would ask about his sister...or worse, when he was around 18-20, his wife! Hahaha, I loved it! Made him so ticked off!Handsome boys and - WOW!! - sexy Mama!!!![]()
