The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Wowsers! I knew they would be on the expensive side, since they have the spa jets, etc., but I did not realize they would be THAT expensive.

As long as the tub drains quickly, it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

oldhens, you crack me up, but thinking about it, that will be the next feature on the life alert buttons...."Help, I'm in my walk-in tub, and can't get out."

Have you checked out one of those Kohler walk-in tubs? I've seen the commercials, and figured I'd investigate them more thoroughly when/if we ever remodel our bathroom.

I have owned a walk-in tub. It was thousands of dollars and we ended up having it ripped out and a shower put in. Reason? We froze our buns off sitting in it waiting for it to fill and froze our buns off sitting in it waiting for it to drain. You.could.not.open.the door. until it drained. Maybe they've changed that but we got a shower with a bench so we can get in and out or sit and let the water pour over us.

Yeah, that would be a bummer, especially with low water pressure, and small pipes for draining it.

What if it clogs when you are sitting in it?
Omigosh, what a sticky wicket that would be! Good point!

BAHAHAHAHA! I'm dying here! I literally screamed laughing this morning when I read that! :lau Good thing I had swallowed my coffee! Thanks for the very early morning laugh, Cheryl.

You can refinance for a higher amount and write a check back to them for the amount you didn't need. Just check to make sure they will allow you to pay off the loan earlier without penalty. I've done this. Nitwits....thinkin they were goin to get lots of interest outta me, lol.

I guess I could do that, get tricky with them, eh? These days, almost all loans can be paid off early without penalty, but always best to be 100% sure. I'm not sure the interest rates are much better now than what we have, not as good as they were the last few years. Our loan is 4.125% interest.

My mortgage company's website has some decent tools on it. One says if you pay an extra $100 per month, you shave about 40 months off the term, so if you paid more, that would pay it down a good bit faster. I think there may be 14 years or so left on it if I don't may any extra, though I have done that occasionally, add $100 to the payment toward principal.

Exactly what I was thinking, that you'd have to wrap up to keep from freezing while it drained! And I just said to my husband that we would be better off with a big shower with a seat! Thank you! My basement bathroom has a tiny shower and we were thinking about replacing it in the future. Maybe just a larger shower with a seat (it's a good size bathroom and has wiggle room) would be a great idea. My husband insists on a tub to soak in because of his back so I want a tub in the main bathroom, just one that doesn't make you claustrophobic. The entire unit is one piece and only 29" wide, which means the tub is smaller than that. We aren't humongous but we aren't 100 lbs each, either.

New photos of the two boys for comparison this a.m., at 12 weeks old, son of Atlas and son of Hector. That Drew is the most girly-man I've ever seen at 12 weeks old.

It took me nearly a month to read from the beginning when I started a few months ago lol.

You can definitely tell which boy is Hector's, he's got that same confident look.

Thanks for the welcome! It's HOT out there! Already need a break! My pullets are gathered around a frozen gallon jug of water under the bushes on the north side of the house with a fan blowing on them with plenty of cool water by them. I think they are ready for another over 100 degree day. Back to the Atlas Adventure!
