The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I'm sorry, Lisa. Some days it's just not worth getting out of bed.

ETA: Doesn't help that my mouth is still killing me from the extraction. There was no tooth there, only the root left from a root canal years ago, so the guy had to really dig up in there to get it out, though thankfully, he didn't have to cut the gum. But, I've had to take much stronger meds every day than I'm used to doing, at least twice a day, something I've never done before, ever since last Thursday. He didn't give me any antibiotics, guessing he thought I didn't need them because there was no surgery, per se, but I'm beginning to think maybe I needed them. I need to do more dental work, but no way until this is healed and it's going to take longer than expected.

My husband called the dental surgeon and told him that I was not able to sleep because of the pain almost a week later, so he's working me in tomorrow to see what's wrong. Just means we have to drive an hour and a half plus into traffic-central.

:(, but he is right

You mean I should listen to my husband? He is concerned. Poor man hurt his neck somehow doing yardwork about two weeks ago and he's in his own pain.

By the way, we cooked a small pot of those peas and they are definitely some kind of purple hull field pea. They were very, very good!

Glad you are getting it looked at again, tooth pain stinks. I got a dog with a reoccurring UTI, need to take another sample in tomorrow, my husband is working too much and my surgery date is approaching. Everything seems to off track and it's causing me a lot of anxiety.

Seems it's a stressful time of year for both of us.

"off-track" is a good term for how I've been feeling all day long, Lisa. I'm sorry about your sucky day, too. I'm sure this pain is just worse because he had to dig up in there with "spatulas" to get the root out, lots of hard pushing on my jaw because there was not a tooth to latch onto to pull out the root. I didn't anticipate this much pain a week later, not to the extent of being woken up at 2-3 a.m. every morning and having to take heavy meds. It's pushing me off my game entirely. If I have to take an antibiotic for two weeks, that's fine-my husband was very concerned about infection. If it's just pain, surely it will subside eventually.
I have had you on my mind with your surgery coming up soon, too. That is never any fun, never!

I had a root canal removed last fall. There was a tooth, but when they pull them, they have to drill out the root filling below.

Worst pain - and longest lasting - that I've had with any tooth related issues after the procedure. It was more intense for much longer. Now, almost a year later, I can still feel aching in that area from time to time. And I think there was a little nerve damage as I often feel some level of tingling down to my lips. (Tooth was the far back upper in the jaw.) It comes and goes and I get swelling in that cheek too.

I know that drilling in the jaw is pretty intense and I'm still hoping that there is more healing to come- and perhaps the nerve may calm down if that's what it is.

Yikes, that sounds horrible. My friend had similar experiences with root canals, thankfully I haven't needed any. Mouth stuff just hurts.
