The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Does the woman own a hose? She knows what they do, right? Does she need instructions on how to hose down her porch? Otherwise, she can screen in her porch, and put a door on it, so they can't get in.

Wow, ours occasionally come up to the stoop, but so far haven't been on the porch deck. My dogs are a good deterrent, that's why my chickens only come up to the house early in the morning, but not after I get up. I definitely wouldn't be throwing water either. I find putting strange things or using things like decoys out can sometimes work for a bit. Otherwise maybe whirlygigs might work, but it's hard to stop visits long term, and most need to be accepted or you need to lock your chickens up.

I like seeing my chickens outside my house but don't like the poop they always leave. Dogs think the poop is a treat.

When we had dogs, which were not chicken friendly, having been here years before the chickens arrived, we made a gate with a wheel on the bottom to lock the dogs up on the deck. The chickens couldn't pass, or it would take some squeezing for them to get through, anyway. But, she could pen them up, block off her porch or just learn to accept it as part of country living and living with chickens.
You can see the gate in this picture at the top of the steps. Sure miss Kes. She was a good girl, but I would not trust her with the chickens. Cody was a bad influence on her, being his smart and high-energy, high prey drive boxer-retriever mix self.

Oh I love that. I never thought of that. What a pretty dog. I definitely know about naughty boxers eating chickens, they are one of my favorite breeds.

Here's Rosie getting herself in the little bed because all others were taken.

Aw, she's a cutie. Thanks on the compliment about Kes. She was a super submissive, sweet dog, almost never barked. When we heard her bark the first time, we were floored. It almost rattled the ground, it was so deep and throaty. She did live to 15 years old, or a couple of months before that, anyway. She was a dumpee, originally, as a puppy, but the folks who took her home had an old ankle biter who didn't like her and realized she could not stay outside, being very cold natured, then the Humane Society got her and I adopted her as a companion for Cody. They were a perfect match. I miss that girl. Best dog ever.

Got my DNA analysis. Hoping eventually to find something specific in these matches. Being adopted, I have had little information about stuff in my life. Scandanavian makes sense since I know my maternal grandfather was Dutch. Though it may seem surprising, I have no interest in making contact with relatives. I just need a certain piece of information verified and since everyone who knows the truth is dead, this was a back-door way of getting it (maybe).

Congratulations, your a Brit!

Not really a surprise, but I was also born in Florida and we won't dwell on that, either, LOL. The Baltic thing surprised me, had to refresh my memory on what countries besides Lithuania were there. Heritage had a special for $69 they are running through the 23rd of this month, which is $30 off their regular price so I did it in hopes of answering a big question. It may not help because they are not the biggest registry on the market.

Do you have any clue at all to bio parent's (or grandparents, etc.) true identity?

Absolutely, I've done a post on him. Robert Otis Fuller, executed by one of Castro's firing squads at age 25, as a rebel fighter, former U.S. Marine, trying to get back his family's confiscated lands in Cuba. He was married to my mother at the time, but the rumors were that when he was gone, she had an affair with some other womanizer, also married, named Wade Westberry. It's a long, complicated story, but my older son looks very much like Bobby Fuller when they were both in their teens and 20's. I look zero like the Westberrys. The only folks who knew anything are dead and the ones who were alive all thought I was Westberry's kid, even Bobby, who said he could not sign the papers giving me up for adoption because he was not the father. But, I know how women are. June thought she wanted to marry Wade and she wanted me to be his. She didn't put any father on the original birth certificate, which I only got in 2000. Florida has closed adoptions, but the records person figured since I knew all the info and all parties were dead, I could have it. So, I'm looking for names /DNA matches that link me to the Fullers or the Westberrys. That may be my only hope. For now, I consider Bobby Fuller my father since I have paperwork sent to him by lawyers notifying him of my adoption.

Here is the post, but DO NOT click that link I posted in there-it's not working right, some malware has infected it, I think. It used to be a good one.
