The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Someone save me from sappy December TV! I am going insane! I loathe Christmas movies with elves and glitter and magic and all that garbage. I was crocheting a hat so I didn't get up to turn the channel and DH was on the phone with his elderly aunt. I had to listen to "A Cinderella Christmas". O. M. G. I can't take it anymore! I may become a diabetic just by watching this mess! :barnie:rantIt's dangerous to both my physical and mental health. Please, January 2, come quickly!

You don't enjoy the sap and magic of Christmas? The one day of year when everything in life is perfect? Bah!! I'm not a fan either. Everyone thinks everyone gets deep into the festivities. I will be happy when it's over too and I can look through the garden seeds at the stores instead of all the other junk they are peddling at the moment. Boy do I sound cynical, but I just don't get it all.

Well, bulbs will begin to break ground in January here, so spring is on the way, LOL.

Bailey is not eating at all. We have one of those huge syringes and we use it to put food in her mouth, but she won't touch food on her own. Finally, today, the birds can go outside again and maybe she can run with Bash awhile and perk up. Betsy seems fully recovered other than regaining her weight.

Georgie's bloat has subsided a tiny bit. We did not give her penicillin, not wanting to treat her at that age, but sometimes, like with Gloria Jean, their bodies can fight whatever it is. June, on the other hand, has taken to sleeping in a nest and her breathing is labored at times. She has very little, if any, bloat, but she is almost 10 so it could be her downhill slide to the end. Her eyes are bright and she is still kicking butt in there.

I got 4 eggs this a.m. from Georgie's group alone. Wendy, Maretta, Alice and maybe Athen all laid, plus got one from Thea. When Cora and MaryJo lay, that will give me over a half-dozen. Woohoo! Maybe soon, I can stop supplementing them with store-bought ones.

I just saw Jill on a nest. I hope she will start laying again.

I was doing something yesterday and couldn't get up to change the channel, couldn't find the clicker, and watch the end of one and the beginning of a second two of the most stupid movies I have ever seen. Does people really watch that stuff?! :tongue

I guess someone does, but it ain't me. Blech! I hate this TV month!

No egg from Jilly-poo. I'd show her the crockpot, but she's not my only slacker. Just kidding! Not about the slacking part, about the crockpot. She looks good, though, Jill does. Maybe soon, when the days start getting longer, they'll all start up and the broodies will come out again.

Oh, I finally started quilting again. Easing back into it with this little quilt.

And I caught Finn looking at my bag with the likeness of Isaac on it. My friend, Brandon, is a manager at a Cracker Barrel in Kentucky and he sent me this a few years ago because he thought it resembled Ike so much. It has my vehicle winter emergency gear in it so it needs to go in one of the SUVs, but Finn must remember Ike because he was so fascinated with the picture.

Do you sell your quilts?

I'm not getting eggs at all and don't expect any until at least of february. But I have so few birds right now.
I've had a second hen from last year resume, so a total of 2 almost 2 years old hens, an Easter egger, and my lazy salmon faverolle with missing toes. I also have a few pullets that have started, mostly Orpingtons, and a Easter egger. I used to not like Easter eggers but now they are growing on me. So out of about 90 chickens I'm getting 4-5 eggs. That's enough for me.
