The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Now you can cover yourself with both of them while you work on them.
Oh, there are mistakes in there. No matter how precise you think you're cutting or piecing, something always comes out a tad off. But, overall, I'm pleased with them. I didn't mean to make two quilts. I did the bottom center first and made the surrounding blocks on the top one, but they didn't go right. So, I made a second large star block (Carpenter's Wheel, it's called) that matched those blocks better and so, voila, two quilts in progress. Seems a fitting endeavor for the upcoming frigid weather, right?
So cool, quilting is a dying art unfortunately.

I’m hiding in my closet eating Oreos because the kids are getting on my nerves lol. But I need to go make them dinner soon.
Hahaha, I remember those days and I only had TWO!

I may just hand quilt one. I've been machine quilting them for a couple of years, but my expertise is in hand quilting. It's just that folks won't even pay the prices for machine quilted ones and even fewer will pay what I charge for hand quilted ones. Of course, I could just keep them all and move to give them their own bedroom.

Love that buttercup quilt. And they are not mistakes, they are individual characteristics :D

Thanks, Mary. A lot of what happens is that the different fabrics stretch the tiniest bit, but they don't all stretch the same because they are from different manufacturers. Though they are all 100% cotton and good quality, not all act the same way as you handle and turn and pull on them. You can't help it, it just happens, even if you're careful not to pull and stretch them anymore than necessary.

Hey, thanks to Mary for naming one of the quilts. The softer hued one with the sage green will be called my Buttercup quilt. Suits it pretty well, I think. About 9 yards of fabric I ordered will be here today. I hope it is at least close to what it appeared to be online. Thousands of Bolts has excellent quality fabrics, though monitors can throw off colors a bit at times.

Dang it, I didn't know we could name them.:frow

Oh, yeah! I have names for most of them. This one I called "Deep Purple Dream" quilt-remember that old song? I sold it to a long-gone BYC member (from the forum, no idea if he's alive still) years and years ago, completely pieced and quilted by hand for a ridiculous sum of money--ridiculously cheap, that is, for what it was.
Included a pic with my dogs in it for you, Lisa, Cody and Kes. Cody was trouble personified, high prey drive, had to keep him away from the chickens. Kes was a "special kind of snowflake", as my friend Anne described a dog that looks like her and apparently, acts like her as well, that is for adoption at the Humane Society.

If you don't remember the song-these are the original artists, though Donny and Marie did it later.

First egg of the season!

6 yo (in March) EE

:wee
Hmm, I'm getting too many a day now, but I got lots of chickens, and lots of bums.

I made a huge bowl of egg salad to go along with my buckets worth of chili I made last Saturday. Chickens are gonna get some good leftovers later this week. I always cook for an army so I only have to cook once a week.
