I have no problem with regular worms, I’ve also been baiting my own hooks since I was a kid. But grubs/larvae/slugs I just can’t stand.

The weather here has been mild still. Days in the 40s, sunny. We only got one good snow this winter and a few small flurries. Good for me because I hate cold, but not so good for this desert state that needs the mountains to get more snow to get us through summer.

I remember that our secondary water, which was paid for with our property taxes, to be used only for outside uses, not drinking, was dependent on the melt from the mountains. Flurries is crazy for Utah for winter. We had over 100" of snow the last winter we were there.

Yep....an earthworm, no problem. Nightcrawler...not really a problem. But those mealworms....there's just something about them that took awhile to get used to.

The lady who bought a Brahma trio from me last year and named the boy Bastian just bought 18 Brahma eggs from me. Sadly, she lost the boy and one of the girls in a predator attack. I hate to hear that so much!

Yeah like my niece who took 3 of my baby bunnies last fall and all were killed by a predator. I totally understand. It's good she liked them enough to try some more.

It's too bad, but it happens, even when you're careful. It's sometimes hard to think like a predator in order to shore up their defenses so they are truly predator-proof. And I realize that I have beaten the odds on that so far, but I won't always, not where I live. I'm not sure how I'll react when that happens, I love my birds so much. For them to die of old age or reproductive issues is one thing, but to be frightened and hurt that way, I don't even want to think about that. At least, if a rooster dies defending the flock, that is what he was meant to do. He is fulfilling his calling as their protector. I still would rather not have happen to my sweet boys.

Adding my spring quilt in progress. Two more blocks and I can start assembling them and decide on a border, or whatever comes next. It will be a twin/double, I think, but I may go nuts and end up with another queen size. Not sure why. No one buys them. My husband said, " Well, there will be a bunch of quilts when you're gone to divvy up". Gee whiz, nice thought there, hubs. Oh, the hyacinths I planted a couple months ago are breaking ground now! I found some of those, plus some Angelica tulips on half price sale at Walmart in December and put them in the ground. Spring will come, I just know it! It always does, right? Tomorrow, doctor's appt for both of us. His will be his first on Medicare/TriCare for Life so may take longer. We have the same doctor. Hope they have something interesting on the TV in the waiting room.

We'd be rich.

I had to remove some off my porch roof today, they were about 3 feet long and deadly to any passing dog.

We have reached the point in winter when the air can be freezing, but the sun melts the snow on the roof, so great icicle making weather.

As a kid we would eat them, now I know better, I give them to the dogs who play with them.
