The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Awwww, poor Finn. Glad you took him to the vet, and it didn't cost an arm, and a leg. Some of the vet prices are way too high.

Poor Finn :( I hope he heals fast.

Thanks. He just had his shots three months ago, but since cats have a lot of bacteria in their claws, I wanted to make sure he didn't get an infection. The Vetericyn did great last time, but I did not see many punctures then. This time, it was so much worse. I'm amazed that a neutered male is so territorial, but he wasn't neutered until he was fully mature, though I'm not sure that makes a difference in that part of his personality. This nasty gray cat has to go. The woman across from us has a grayish cat, but Finn and he have an understanding. This one is new to the area, it seems to me, one of the dumpees.

I thought the vet might have to sedate him. Nah, not Finn. He is such a love.

I am very nervous. Mark Wilson's property next door to me just went up for sale. He bought it about the same time we bought ours. Gah, new neighbors! Hope they are not folks who let their dog roam or we'll have a less than amicable relationship. Truthfully, I don't ever want to hear another human voice around here!

Finn had another cat fight, wounded in the same place as he was a week ago, but worse. Guess it may have been a fight after all. His legs were shredded plus had several puncture wounds, too. Tom saw this fight, tried to get Finn to come back to him, but he refused and kept pouncing on the cat, same gray cat he fought down the mountain weeks ago but that time, he wasn't at all hurt. He was adamant that this cat leave his territory. This time, he was in much more pain and we decided he needed a vet, took him to one that we used years ago with our dogs, not his usual one. He was just barely healing from the last time! Good grief, cat drama!
The vet said "He is such a good kitty!". Finn just laid there and let the doc examine him and give him an antibiotic shot. He said we got him there at the right time, that the wounds would have festered, already saw some pus coming from one of the puncture wounds. So he has antibiotics to take for the next ten days. Poor Finn. He wants to go out, but we're trying to get him to use a litter box. He's not happy about being corralled at all, but so sweet, as usual. The total for everything was only $76, way less than the vet he's been going to would have charged. Both are good vets and both used to see our dogs, but this one just seems to have more reasonable fees, overall.
We have to do something about that other cat. I've never seen Finn act this way about any other cat. The other cats we were seeing just vanished, probably killed by predators, but this one keeps coming back to fight with Finn.
Here was one leg last night.

In better news, the lady coming to get the two splash Brahma pullets says she'll also take the blue partridge boy with them, the one I'm falling in love with. YES! Please take him before I build him a Rooster Castle.
Naughty Finn. That's why I was thinking cat fight as they lash out with their front legs looking to claw each other. Hopefully he heals up okay. Maybe try to live trap the other cat?

Glad some of your chicks are leaving. :clap

I don't like our neighbors, but I wouldn't want to gamble on worse neighbors. That's always stressful.

A friend on FB always shows recipes and I have fussed at her for that, bad girl. Well, this one is a special weakness of mine, have made them plenty of times in past years, but I rarely ever eat baked goods, especially sugary ones, because acid reflux kicks in big-time. But, I will suffer for the taste of these lemon bars! I made Tom make them so I could blame him, too. They taste just like lemon meringue pie, very similar to the recipe I used in the past.
