Peace in you coop/flock is always worth removing the problem child. It can oftentimes be emotionally difficult when making the decision, but it's always worth it afterward.

Dh announced my birthday present tonight, before he went to work. I'm to pick out the computer components I want, to do a rebuild of my computer. I've already decided on the motherboard, and processor.

As far as the June/Wendy battles that happen on occasion, I don't consider Wendy, and certainly not June, a problem. It's just between those two. June is head hen and what she says goes. Wendy obviously is not bowing properly to her head hen. Now, when I decided to sell Lizzie and Tessa, two definite problem children, the peace that came afterward was so nice. I had qualms about selling adult hens I'd raised, but they gave me little choice. It was the right decision. No other birds have been that disruptive before or since those two cantankerous sisters.

Cheryl, glad you're building you a new computer! My son got my old one and it's actually better on our fiber optic speed than my current one is, much faster. Sadly, he only comes up here when he needs something. Sigh.

I posted this video yesterday, though I held back on some things I would have said because my younger son watches the videos. There are other reasons for our decision, let's just say...

We're having the same problem with all the rain. Glad you sold some of your Brahmas. Cynthia, you might want to start looking for your cabin now. Just keep an eye out on real estate. It took us 3 years to find this place. Georgia isn't quite as bad, but it too is getting very crowded. Good pieces of property, away from others, are not as commonplace as they used to be. Heck, it could take you over 5 years just to find what you're looking for. If you don't really want to move, or don't find what you're looking for, have a will dividing it between the two boys. They'll sell it, and it will go to someone that wants it, and will appreciate it.

Letting them have it is what I want to avoid. From what I'm seeing around here, my place should be worth around 200K. They value the steel barn on the tax record at 12K, which in crazy since we paid 6K for them to set it up and did the interior work for less than 2K. Then, there is the extra pasture lot that the county don't take into account as being part of the property since we bought it separately and pay taxes on it separately.

I have been looking at this adorable little cabin for a long time. It needs a 2nd bath, but the setting, I love, unless the pictures are very misleading. It had almost 5 acres and now, they are offering it with just 2 acres. The front is at ground level, the back has a dock on a wide creek/stocked lake and a screened porch. I could deal with this setting! So cute. But, storage is not great, not sure where I'd store food. An addition might be in order and since it's been on the market for so darn long, maybe could get it for less. The original price with 4.97 acres was $162, then reduced to $159, then with 2 acres, still at $149, which seems high for taking away 3 acres of it. I have not driven by it, though, so it may have bad stuff around it that is an eyesore.

Contact someone, and take a look at it. From the sale of your property, you may have enough to add on a bathroom, and pantry without a problem. You could even take your chickens.

Actually, I'll have to borrow against my equity to buy another one. I never want to have to balance the sale of two places, one to buy the other. We only owe 38K. And I don't want to move all my chickens. I want them to die off so I don't have to have all these stupid pens. With so many 8-11+ years old, a die-off is bound to happen sooner rather than later. So, that means I'd have to float two places for awhile, prepping the new one while divesting us of all the extra crap that won't fit in the new place.
That place I linked for you at least has some flat land to put up a storage barn/coop. I do have a realtor we bought this place and our other lots with, the woman who founded our humane society here. I shot her a message already to scope out the current market.

There is no basement. Two bedrooms are on the only floor there is.
