The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I love your quilts. If I could afford it all our beds would have beautiful handmade quilts. I still adore the one I got for my daughter from you.

I’ve got a chicken quarantined in my bathtub again. :rolleyes: She’s got a golf ball sized cyst or abcess or tumor or something on her underside a bit below her vent. She’s also the one who is molting worst right now so she looks awful lol. She’s acting ok but we’ve got a vet appointment today to see what’s up. Don’t want to lose one of my good layers.

My first desired chickens were jerseys and polish. They still are. I don't know why. Do you think your polish are special?
They are definitely interesting. I haven’t had any luck breeding them but I get a cute bird that is half polish.
I have jerseys from sandhill but the legs are feathered so I think they made a mistake.

@seminolewind and @speckledhen

For me, and hand-made quilt is too precious to "use". It needs to be displayed or used on a bed that doesn't get wear. So the cheap, store-bought ones get "real use" and the hand-made ones are protected like precious art!

Nah, my quilts are made to use! They should hold up much better than the commercial ones. Quilts should be loved, no matter how much work goes into them. I can make a wallhanging with lots of intricate quilting for art!

Love that new quilt!!!
Thank you.

I'm glad you still like the quilt.

That golf ball sized growth may be a cyst like was on my Ellie and like the one that Neela also has on her. I have a thread about when Ellie passed away and what I found inside that cyst. It was so weird!

Can you give us a link?

My grandmother quilted. She made one, double bed size, for me when I was a baby. I still have it. Mom put it on the floor for me to play on, especially if we went somewhere. She kept it washed. When I got bigger, it went on my bed. When I had my first daughter, I put it on the floor for her to play on. It's over 50 years old, so it's a bit worn now, so I don't use it as much. Before she died, she made new quilts for me, and my daughters, so I don't have to use my baby quilt as often.
