I’m just laughing at your son’s ex’s boxes getting returned. Serves her right! And it’s awesome that he’s doing so well getting himself back in shape.

My hens are finally starting to lay again, and now I’m getting more eggs than we need. I think 8 of the 12 are laying. My kids will be excited to go around selling them in the neighborhood again.

You'll like this, then. Michael called today. He got another box back, LOL. He said she paid $1600+ to have all that shipped over to the UK. Like homing pigeons, they're baaaack! Hehehe

How on earth do you have eggs to sell when you have such a large family, Kara? I'd be so overjoyed to have them again. I did get 7 eggs today, though.

**The above I wrote last night when our power suddenly went out for a few hours. So, it was still a draft this morning. Rain expected for the next week, temps like spring. I keep saying this is a weird winter almost every year lately. This year, we've had single digits, only about an inch of snow, and rain, rain, rain. Now, April temps in February for long stretches. And, of course, we'll probably have a cold snap after the buds are out on my peach and pear trees, killing them off just like last year. We have almost two months to go until typical last frost date. Geez.

I don't know what the booth rent is at the market. There are different size booths; one of the guys I was going to ask has a very small space and his offerings are limited. My eggs may bring him more booth traffic for his own items.

I would say that the amount should be enough to help him cover the cost of having his booth, and related to how many dozen eggs you expect to sell.

We have more snow than has been seen here for many, many years. I was up on the roof of the garage yesterday shoveling the lower five or six feet clear, and the snow came 4 in above my knees - and I was still standing on more below my feet. Snowed last night, and we're supposed to get a rain and snow storm this weekend. Thank God for the tractor with the snowblower. I'm so sick of shoveling snow, I hope I never see another snowflake again. I think Cheryl has had a lot of snow this year too.

We don’t make eggs for everyone very often. When I do I use 2 dozen, but that’s like once every couple weeks. I rarely cook breakfast for the kids, they eat cereal (I’m not a morning person lol). I eat 2 eggs every morning and most days that’s all the eggs I use. So when I’ve got 3-4 dozen extra collected my 10 year old (and whoever else wants to go) loads them into a small cooler and walks around the neighborhood selling them for $3/dozen. They save the egg money for a family ice cream outing.

Alright, only got meal prep back in track 2 days ago, but I did weigh in anyway...down 2.2# this week. Slow but steady. 328.2. Getting there. Working for 275 by the end of the year. Down 60# so far.

He's doing really great. I hope this is helping his heart heal as well. Eventually, it will happen to a point he doesn't miss her anymore and realizes he's better off without her.

Did you know the pecan tree never buds until all danger of frost is gone.how do they know this. I have a big blue Orpington roo who has always flown up in the redwood trees to roost, if he knows a storm is coming or it will freeze at night he goes in the coop. How does he know this.?

h2oratt, it's like the saying that it's going to rain/storm when the birds fly low. It's true. The scientific explanation is that they are sensitive to air currents, and air pressure. The humidity goes up before a strong rain, or storm, thus the air pressure is heavier, so they fly lower. Animals are more sensitive to many aspects of nature, and the environment, that we don't tend to notice as much. I would suspect this provides somewhat of an explanation about your Orpington knowing when to fly up into the redwood trees to roost. I did not look up how, or why a pecan tree would know when the danger of freeze has passed, but again, I suspect there are things they are sensitive to, and attuned to, that we are not.

I can understand the humidity or air pressure. I love Mother Nature.
