The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

So, what is a 32 year old donkey equivalent to in chicken years?? My hens are missing all their teeth, too. :p
Probably similar to your old birds. :) Your chickens live longer than mine.

I wish that donkey would drop dead like the last one did. Makes things easier on me. That other one was about 35 years old when he went one day. This one is spry enough to feel bad about putting her down, but she cannot maintain enough weight anymore and our winters are brutal. She was supposed to go last year but I gave in again. With poor quality hay she definitely won't make it on ration alone.

If feed prices rise too much we may be filling the freezer with some birds too. Probably mostly ducks. I got too many of those.

I had a pony who was 20 years old, but that was the oldest.
My big horse was 30, that other donkey was 35, these I have now are 32, and the boys are 22, and 23. The rest I have own I haven't kept their whole lives like these, so I'm unsure how long they all lived to.

A 32 year old donkey! That's great.

I expect hay and corn to both go up this year due to flooding. That should also cause an increase in meat and egg prices. Unfortunately no one really wins, as the farmers are only passing on increased costs, or will not make as much due to less harvested crops.

Indonesia will be killing over 1 million broilers to help the prices come up. WTF! They could ship them to starving people and write it off as a charitable contribution. The world just turns my stomach frequently. I spend alot of time with my chickens to feel better.
