The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

I did a lot of work on building my pen today. I need this pen up so when I go to NY for 5 days I can make it real easy to take care of the chickens-mostly just collecting eggs, checking food and water.

I noticed yesterday that my psycho has had so many feathers pulled out of her scalp repeatedly that her scalp is really swollen. So I got out some cortisone cream and gave her aspirin to help with the swelling. I've had to double fence about 30 feet to keep her away from the hen on the other side . She lets this hen pull the pin feathers out! She is a psycho.

Boy, what a can of worms you opened- retired men. Oh G_d I feel like I'm glad I don't have a baseball bat. I can't take it. I try to spend all day with the chickens or daughter or something away from the house. Everything I say pisses him off, so I say nothing most of the time. I have no one to vent to : (

:hugs to all my friends experiencing the second childhood of their significant others. And people think temper tantrums are bad in 2 year olds. Jimmy's big thing is Facebook, he seldom spends longer than 10 minutes without pulling out his phone and surfing. It seems so incredibly unhealthy. And since his back has been sore lately, he has that to gripe about - poor baby. (Really I think it makes him very anxious, every time

I would love to be able to help my parents with household chores. I can remember as a child going to my Grandparent's homes and doing the same thing. My grandpa had a little old tractor that he used to mow his field, and when we got older we would do it for him - but we had to mow around some of the patches of wildflowers, which my grandmother adored. Yard work, windows, hauling boxes, planting flowers, all the many things that became to hard for them alone, but could continue to enjoy with our help.

I made the son pose for a pic with Mom and tried to make him quit being silly, but this was as serious as I could make him be. Goofball. Michael is supposedly coming up tomorrow to see his brother. I can't wait to see his new, slimmer self in person! Chris recently lost 45 lbs himself. He tends to be a big stress eater.

That's still a great pic of you two. He's the spittin' image of you. No denying that one. I'm glad Michael is going to be able to come while his brother is there. That will make for a nice little family reunion. Take pictures. How is Tom doing? Didn't he have his last session yesterday? I'm sure he's so glad that's over. Now he can get back to his doctor, and hopefully get better, more permanent solutions.

Tom went for his last session, but they wouldn't do it. They always ask his pain level, which makes it obvious they don't understand how this nerve pain-disc issue works. He has been really bad lately. He said if it was any worse, he'd be in the ER, so they wouldn't do it. That tells you that it's exercise, pure and simple, not "therapy". Therapy would help pain; this has made it worse. But, he is waiting on the hospital to call him to come in for the cortisone shots that have been approved. If those don't alleviate the pain, they are talking surgical intervention at that point. Maybe now, finally, we can get some relief. I've been doing all the chicken chores and the garden is a jungle. I tried to pull up one section of a cantaloupe vine that was wilted and my hands have been itching like crazy ever since.

Actually, Chris looks like the Bacon side of the family. He has the only blue eyes in the family, all of us have green. Michael looks more like me, the Wixsoms (me and my mother, June). From when they were really young, Michael, then me and Chris on the right:
