The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

You're a mod, Lisa! I was trying to figure what you were being congratulated for and finally just noticed, duh! Congrats, I think. I did that for about 5 years, but I really burned out at that point. I hope you love it.
I remember you being a moderator, and I wondered why you stopped. I'm sure I will find out eventually. It definitely is a new adventure for me. :)

My son posted on some school psychologist-type Facebook page and I answered, so this was our brief conversation, to show the difference in American and Korean culture regarding education:

That black boy is very interesting! Is he a little smutty? Does he have any pattern? Or is he solid beetle black?

Congratulations, Lisa! Now we will have to really watch our manners!!

She says he's solid black with beetle green sheen! Crazy, huh?

We police ourselves on this thread. Easy peasy! Other places, it's not as friendly, definitely not as much as it used to be.

Thea blew all her feathers and at the same time, her crop became doughy and she looks awful. MaryJo looks like a dying bird. Her molt is over, her crop seems fine, but she doesn't show interest in food much and is bone thin. I have no idea what the heck happens when some of these birds molt. And it was 15* last night here, suddenly made a huge drop. Both of those hens have purplish combs and seem miserable. I try to give them soft, high protein food with probiotics and we're massaging Thea's crop to move it along, but not much else I can do.

Sorry to hear about your unwell birds Cynthia. I have a bunch still slowly molting. It's been so cold here already. Down into the single digits. Crazy November here. Fall is always the most stressful season on my birds. :hmm

I remember back when you were a moderator. I only read on this site back than. The rough crowd scared me too much to actually join.

Sorry to hear about Thea, and MaryJo. They seem to put you through your paces every so often. It dropped to 53 last night, which was fine, but it was sprinkling, and windy as all get out. I was very upset. I keep an eye on the weather report. The forecast said there would be no rain, and no wind, so I put a few tarps up, but not all of them. In a bit, I'm putting up ALL the tarps. I can open the doors for air circulation, then close them when it gets so windy.
