The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

As far as masks go, I wear mine everywhere that I have to go inside. Remember, they are to protect others from your infection, not the other way around. Just polite. They also help remind you not to touch your face in such places. And I often have to wear masks for hours at work, you generally don't even notice them. Not nearly as bad as a bra! (or probably a tie).

Here's mine, then. vlcsnap-error365.png I look like a bank robber.

My gardens need weeding but it has been so dry here I have to wait until it rains. As opposed to 10 miles south of here all the way downstate, where they had so much rain it washed out 2 dams on the Tittabawassee river. I'm going to put potatoes in tomorrow. All my tomatoes are in self-watering planters that I made from storage tubs

Tom went to get feed and shavings and they had Roma tomatoes for the first time this season. These are the first paste tomato plants I've seen anywhere. He got one pack of them, though I have quite a few started from seed up on the deck now. Everything else is doing really well now.

You've been too quiet. Is everything ok?
Me? Yeah, just been busy and preoccupied. Finally got that pasture cut, if you saw my last video. Been keeping the garden going, monitoring the incubator and getting ready for the chicks (who, I think, are all sold, or most) and making this quilted tote bag. About to start another, different and smaller one. Thanks for asking. Hope you're doing okay!

This is a petition that someone on the FB chicken swap group posted for informational purposes. Doesn't really affect me since I don't buy hatchery chicks, but it will affect all those generations-long family owned hatcheries and anyone who only wants a few sexed pullets from the feed store . I wish the hatcheries would set up their own delivery service for chicks.

Unlike some people, I have been constructive today. I finished a tote bag *and* made a lemon pound cake using 5 of our fresh Brahma eggs. It's cooling so it can be turned out of the pan. Hope she comes out okay! Who likes the crusty edges?? YUM! Haven't made a pound cake in years and this is my best recipe. @Cetawin and @wekiva bird both love this cake.
