The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Hopefully, your neighbor will notice the sign. You haven't mentioned anymore problems with the dog, so hopefully they've got it under control.

The chicks are cute. I don't fully de-goo. I do use a dampened paper towel, and wipe off the excess.
The dog has been loose again and up at the street, so could easily have come over here, but my sign is here now and will go up today.

speckled, that happens sometimes. It's not always clear why. At least you got 8 cute chicks. Excited to watch the progress on Jane, and Maddie chicks.

Yeah, I know, but I hate mysteries. The first lady who wanted 8-10 chicks offered to take only half and let the other lady have half. That was nice of her. The 3rd lady lives in my town so could get hatching eggs or chicks when the next hatch is done.

The first smoothie of the season, self-defense against the heat.
Ice cold water (no ice), about a cup +/- of plain, unsweetened yogurt, 1/2 tsp vanilla, a bunch of mixed unsweetened frozen fruit-today was just strawberries and bananas-and any sweetener you want, if you want. I use Stevia. Blend, top with whipped cream and VOILA! Instant cool-down! Makes two of them. Had to put ice in the chicken waterers as well since it's almost 90* in the barn.

I'm so hot, I'm miserable. We are going to buy a larger window A/C (heatpump is dead, need to see what's wrong) and seems they've gone to "smart wifi" A/C. WTH? I don't need my air conditioner to talk to my smart phone or tell the power company how much I use it, dang it. I want it to cool my house, period. I don't even need a remote control! Ack!

Adding that when I went to the barn, Jane had laid an egg so I popped it in the incubator with the other 24 I set. It's only about 4 hours behind them. Her eggs are like roundish golf balls, much like I remember Panda's light olive colored ones.

It would be nice to see a little Jane running around
You would love Jane. She is funny. I see her and say, "JAAAAnie!" She turns and comes toward me in a semi-squat, lets me pick her up. She is so adorable. Maddie will let me pick her up, too, but at times, she teases me and backs off when I reach for her. Jane is just a hoot. I call her Miss Jane on occasion, but that drums up a vision of Miss Jane from The Beverly Hillbillies, LOL. She is so not that.

speckled, you might want to call a repairman regarding your heat pump, depending on how old it is. It may just be a capacitor, or worn points. It's a real easy fix, and should not be overly expensive.
We will and Tom keeps saying we need to do that. I agree then he doesn't. Just said it this morning, in fact. Yes, we will. I'll nag him some more today, LOL.

I had a feel around under Momma, could only feel one egg that I could tell was not hatched, so if she is done then there should be 9 chicks. She is still glued to the nest. It is so funny, when I open the coop door and talk to her she turns her head back and tucks it down, pretending I am not there. I can see blue, splash and black babies peering out around the sides :love
