The Evolution of Atlas: A Breeding (and Chat) Thread

Sorry to laugh, but Mace staring at the hen pile all day has me laughing here.
Yeah, poor little Mace. I guess I gave him some dud women, LOL. He's so sweet and earnest, trying to keep up with them when they go three different directions but now, he is almost unemployed.

He'd probably make a good daddy. Not that I would encourage any shenanigans.

I bet he would! Seems the bantam roosters make decent dads, including my Belgian D'Anvers. Absolutely no shenanigans allowed! One day when the Omega Rocks are mature and I want to add to them, I'll allow a broody to do it for me.

This was just outside the chicken pen. If Shelby had not craned her neck forward and clucked nervously as she stared, I might have stepped on the flat little thing. I thought she saw a snake, which is why I followed her line of sight. Mama came back later to get her baby and eat every head off my double bloom daylilies by the driveway. Do you see it?

My poppies have finally started blooming, the pink first, they are enormous this year. My late lilac is just blooming now. It has been so cool all the plants are way behind, but they also seem very happyView attachment 4154750
That is beautiful!
I know that any unprotected plant is fair game for the deer. They've been on this property for generations of deer so some are very comfortable here. Here is what happened just over a week ago, a doe resting on the ground 20 ft from my steps. She didn't even flinch when I stood there and talked to her. i think she is the likely mom because she was quite preggers. She didn't even stand up until my cat trotted down the front steps. She seems to be an older gal, a big girl.
